Finally, a masseuse who really understands what a real massage experience is all about. I had my best massage ever in a Hua Hin, Thailand resort. It was perfect in ever way. The resort ambiance set the mood from the get go. I'm not a fan of the big mall-strip mall massage experience. It's a hassle just to get to the door and when you walk out the cold fast track world slaps you in the face. At Sound Stone the studio is located in a quaint New England cottage house resting atop a small hill in the accessible Webster-Shrewsbury area. The waiting room is a zen-like sanctuary - dimmed lighting, water flowing, music playing softly. Though I couldn't see the Sea of Thailand my thoughtful reflections certainly reminded me of my Thai experience. And, it is a very private room where I didn't have to wait with hair, nail, facial and waxing customers. It was just me! Quiet. Relaxed. When I walked inside the massage room I found the sound table centered in a large space that was drenched in the warmth of wood tones - floor and walls - no cold floor or sterile drywalls here. The decor had a calming feel with the use of soft tropical colors in the chairs, tables, screens, draperies, and wall art. I'm an interior designer so creating the right atmosphere is important to me. But having a great massage is too! I followed Jackie from the now closed Green Door Spa at Frontenac Plaza - the best masseuse they had. She uses these warm volcanic stones that are both smooth and sterile. As the warm stones moved across my back with gentle but firm pressure I felt the sedating experience of the music vibrating the table in rhythm to the music I was hearing. This was a total mind and body experience. This was not a cookie cutter big box massage. When I went back for a second time I invited a friend and afterwards we had a late lunch in Old Webster. It was a great ladies day out. If you like personal attention in a quiet atmosphere these is the place to go.
