Somerby of Mount Pleasant

.A bit over 4 years ago we realized that mom and dad needed to be closer to either my sister in Fort Lauderdale or here in SC. They lived in Springhill Florida which was 7 1/2 hours from me and 6 1/2 hours from my sister...way to far in case of emergencies or if they need help.\r My husband and I went ""shopping"" for places for them. We looked at lots of different communities, brought them to SC along with my sister and had tours. Then let them narrow it down to two. I then arranged for them to come and stay at both places for a few days so they could experience living in both places.\r Mom and dad immediately felt welcomed and ""at home"" at Somerby. This April 2014 will be be 3 years for them.\r I am at Somerby frequently to assist mom and dad and I am so impressed with staff and residents being so friendly. The culinary staff know what they like,know how to set my dad's plate up (he is blind-they know to explain where things are on his plate--straw in his cups--ect) All of the servers know the residents names and their likes and dislikes. Housekeeping staff are very friendly and take genuine care of their apartments. The executive Director is very approachable and is seen out and about the campus sharing meals,talking to residents and helping out whenever needed.\r Somerby offers so many amenities to enjoy and a safe and caring environment. \r My parents,my sister and my self are so thankful for finding Somerby---a warm, friendly, caring, and beautiful retirement community.\r THANK-YOU Somerby of Mount Pleasant!!! more

Somerby is a wonderful place to live and my mother is so happy to be a part of this fabulous community. We explored other retirement communities and when we found Somerby, she knew that this was the place that she wanted to be a part of. At first, she was a bit reluctant to move into any community. She thought that it would be difficult to meet new friends. The residents are wonderful people and made her feel very welcome upon the first day of her arrival. The management team and the staff are also wonderful people. They will go out of their way to make sure that the residents needs are met. My mother has made many new friends. I actually think that she probably has more of an active lifestyle than I do at times. She always tells me about the many activities that are available to choose from. She also raves about the delicious meals that are served. She also loves her beautiful apartment. I never have to worry about mom because I know that she is in a safe environment with people who really care about her.\r \r If you are seeking a beautiful., safe and friendly retirement community for your loved ones,\r I urge you to consider visiting Somerby. You will not be disappointed. more

If you're looking for an independent and/or assisted living facility in the Charleston area, look no further than Somerby of Mt. Pleasant. My parents moved into the independent living side about three years ago. I've always been so impressed with the very professional staff and how they sincerely care about the residents. I've never doubted that they are looking out for the best interests of everyone living there. And the activities provided are numerous and varied - there's always something going on - whether it be games, restaurant or shopping trips, art classes, exercise classes, lectures, etc. Meals are eaten in a very nice, large dining room and the camaraderie among residents is very apparent - I eat with my parents a couple of times a month and see it first hand for myself! The bottom line - I hope that in 25 years when I'm ready for a retirement facility, that Somerby will have an opening! more

?I like living here very, very much. My favorite thing here is the staff and their consideration for residents. It's an ongoing memory because of their kindness and consideration. My apartment is marvelous. It is excellent. I'm going to work to get to the Somerby communities across the states. The food is very pleasant too.? more

I moved my parents to Somerby this summer. What a find. It is a friendly and safe place for those who need a hand every know and then. The staff is excellent and go out of their way to make sure that every need of the residents are met. I highly recommend the facility. more

I like the people and the apartment. I also like to get into the activities, Happy Hour, and to read the books in the library. My favorite thing to do here is to exercise and play bingo. I loved Oktoberfest too. more

This is a wonderful place that our grandmother raves about constantly! The staff truly went out if their way to make her feel welcome, and it didn't stop there. She always tells us how friendly and helpful everyone is to her, and how she has met some wonderful residents that she now calls friends. She raves about the staff and the delicious meals she gets in the dining room, she says she loves getting her hair done in the salon, and always tells us how helpful and warm the front desk and office staff are to her. She was reluctant to move to Somerby, but now she says she wishes she found it sooner! We are so happy that she is happy and enjoying this stage in her life surrounded by wonderful people and living in such a pleasant atmosphere. My husband and I wish we could move in! We would definitely recommend Somerby to anyone looking for a retirement facility that is definitely 5 stars! more
