It is truly an amazing restaurant. The owner/chef really understands French Canadian cooking (I grew up in a French Canadian household). He and his staff are very friendly and are...

After reading good reviews , we decided to go to Soleil. We called up up front to make sure we dont have to wait. We were told its a walk in and we should be ok. After arriving th...

The warmest in LA 12/12/2005

You should go to Soleil, not only for the great food and decor, but also to meet its owner Luc, French Canadian that is amazingly warm, nice and friendly! I haven't met such friendly and devoted owner in LA ever since. Pros: Cozy decor, Great Food, Great service Cons: Not for large groups more

Little Gem! 12/1/2005

I was born and raised in Montreal and was thrilled when I stumbled upon Soleil! Luc, the owner is a gracious host and enjoyable to talk to! This is honestly one of the few AUTHENTIC French restaurants in the city. It is a casual little place with a small outside terrace bit the food is always consistent. The Steak Diane is delicious and I love the Mussels that are served on Wednesday nights. Be sure to try out the Tarte au Sucre ( a traditional Quebecois desert, it is very sweet!) Pros: Consistent food, Great Service, Authentic more

That other the review is BS. 11/30/2005

I just ate here last night and it was spectacular. They had my steak out in a matter of moments. There was even some celebrity appearance there. Perfect place for a date or just a good time with friends. Pros: Great service more

Horrible service 11/16/2005

We had horrible service. Our waitress was completely incompetent and repeatedly forgot to bring items we ordered. One person in our party was 10 minutes late and we were told to order or we would have to leave. The dessert coupon is a joke. After we gave the waitress our coupon, we ordered dessert then the manager attempted to charge us for the dessert since it was the ""one dessert not covered by the coupon"". However, it was not printed on the coupon or communicated by the waitress that it was excluded until after we ate the dessert. STAY AWAY! Cons: service more

Perfection! 8/11/2004

Wow - this is such a find. Amazing food, extremely reasonable and the best service I have had in years. Our server, Mimi, was so gracious as was the owner. Sitting on the patio eating fresh, clean wonderful french/Italian food - my friend and I were transported! Tres bien!!! Pros: Authentic and tasty, Outstanding service, Great deal more

Mmm Mmm DELICIOUS!! 5/27/2004

My boyfriend and I and two of our friends went to SOLEIL not too long ago because we were in the mood to try some French food. Lemme just say that I fell in love w/ the place, the chef/owner, the service, the FOOD (deserts are to die for!). The ambience was great. It's a quaint lil restaurant. When you're there, you feel at home. It's perfect for a 1st date. I got some lamb chops...they were so mouth watering. Luc, the owner/chef was oh so nice! He made our experience such a pleasant one. I think that I have found my new favorite restaurant :) Pros: Good Service, GREAT food, Great ambience more

Fabulous French Cuisine! 5/10/2004

My husband and I fell in love with Soleil the minute we stepped in the door. The food is so good, and they always have a great menu item to try. Luc Alaire, the owner, makes your dining experience one to remember. We have attended their wine tasting events too! Very fun!! We would highly recommend visiting this awesome French Bistro in Westwood. Bring your friends and your favorite bottle of wine since they only have a $5 corkage fee. Pros: Great Food, Great Value, Great Atmosphere more

our favorite new restaurant! 4/1/2004

We have visited Soleil three times in as many months, which says a lot right there. We just love this place, especially the ambiance and the service. Their bimonthly wine-tasting dinners are absolutely fun and fantastic, and a great value for 5 courses with wine. Their signature mussels, available Wednesdays, are also really great. The worst thing I can say about this restaurant is that while the intentions are good, sometimes the food isn't always perfect. That said, it has never been bad. We can't wait to try everything on their menu! Pros: fun propieter, service, wine-tasting dinners more

Jewel of Westwood 5/22/2003

Amazing food -- all the makings of a top-notch french restaurant, without the attitude and astronomical price. All meals are served by the extemely personable and gracious (never a HINT of attitude) Luc Alarie. The interior is charming (I can't tell you how many times I've heard people in the restaurant say that). I eat out 365 days a year -- I haven't even touched my kitched in two years (the microwave is still in shrik-wrap; the plates and silverware are still boxed up). I may not be much a cook, then, but I KNOW my restaurants. I've been everywhere in Westwood -- dozens of times. This place is THE BEST. Try it -- you'll see. Pros: Best Food in Westwood, Charming Decor, Gracious Host more
