First order of 4 pallets was delivered a day late, after waiting all afternoon for the scheduled delivery. When I called the office 1 hour passed the delivery window, the man answering the phone said that he does not know exactly where his driver is, but he'll find out and call me right back (7PM). No call. Next day, around noon, truck shows up, without calling and drops off 4 pallets.
Ordered 1 more pallet 2 weeks later, price has gone up by $20 without any reasonable explanation, except that: ""it must have been on sale before"".
Next morning the truck shows up, drops of 1 pallet. The top row was upside down, with soil/roots facing upward. When I turned it over, the sod (or whatever it should be called) was all dark brown and some white. The soil did not have any moisture in it, instantly crumbling when picked up.
Called the company, the young girl (receptionist?) said she'll find out what can be done and call me right back.
24 hours later, did not receive phone call. Stopped by their office, brought them pictures and a sample, the same young girl (recognized her voice) said she'll present it to her boss and he'll call me back, but could not say when, that he's very busy and drives all over the county.
She said there is no way to reach him. Hard to believe in 21st century, in the age of Cell Phones!
The whole time we were talking at the front counter, I could hear a man's voice (talking on a phone?) coming from office behind. When I asked if that's a manager, she said that's ""nobody"".
That man even came out, walked right by me, not even acknowledging my presence in the office, went outside to look at the sample piece of sod I brought in and said that it looks fine, it just needs a week of watering. I asked him if he was the manger, he said no.
Later that day I identified him on the internet as the owner, Frank F. Balogh.
Now that's an owner of a business lying straight to a customer's face.
Then a lady came in, with a clipboard in her hand and walked straight to the office and closed the door. When asked who was that, the young lady said that was their accountant. Now if that was true, their accountant must lay her own sod for a living.
At that point the receptionist told me to leave or she'll call the police.
Bad, bad, bad experience. If all they do is take people's money, that would explain the two Humve's parked in front of their shop.
Their BBB rating is C+, should be more like F-.
Hope this experience will help another potential customer to make a decision to NOT use ""Sod Farms of Pasco"" and go to their competition. Do your research and use anyone other than Sod Farms of Pasco.
Pros: delivery?
Cons: dead sod, bad customer service
