Cool waterfront place. If you love wildlife you will love Snug Harbor Marina. I have stayed here for 15 years, that sounds like a long time but the staff tell me that the longest running customer has been staying for 40 years, that says it all! more

My family spent the whole week at Snug Harbor. We were celebrating our family reunion and we have to say that Snug Harbor and the island was just perfect choice for our gathering! We were able to book all the cottages (we booked it a year ahead) and have the whole place for ourselves. The view from the marina was just amazing .Wild ponies running free across the channel, tiki huts, sand, palms, beautiful sunsets...There was a constant breeze and we sat at the marina for hours talking, laughing and having a great time. The cottages were nice and comfortable and the staff was friendly and warm. Basia and John were very accommodating and really made our reunion a memorable one! We also rented boats and experienced the beauty of Chincoteague and Asseteague from the water. It was \r a lot of fun and we would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Chincotegaue. The people on the island were also very friendly. Overall, our stay at Snug Harbor was amazing. When we left we really felt we found a place to relax from the stress of the world, and we can't wait for the next time to go back to Snug Harbor. more

Snug Harbor on the great Island of Chincoteague is a great place to experiance the charm of nature. My nature group took a vacation here in 2011 and booked the whole hotel for a kayaking trip around Assateague and Chincoteague Islands. The nature was incredible with great bird watching and of course the wild Chincoteague ponies were always willing to pose for pictures. Snug Harbor is right on the water with great access to the National wildlife refuge...you can't get any closer. If you are looking for waterfront or nature there is no better place! more

I love that place! We still talk about it. My kids keep asking me when we are going back to Snug Harbor. They had so much fun fishing and crabbing of the dock ( just few steps from our cottage). We have recommended Snug Harbor to several friends. We have been going to Chincoteague for years and haven't stayed in a nicer place... very laid back, relaxing with outstanding lighthouse view, and the wild ponies right across the channel every morning. We couldn't ask for more. We had a nice, waterfront cottage for only around $140 a night. We stayed for 3 nights but next time we will definitely stay at least for a week. Easily, the nicest property around. Close driving distance to all attractions, plus marina with boats, canoes, kayaks right there. We rented some kayaks one day, they gave us great recommendations where to go to to see the wild Chincoteague ponies and we saw bunch of them, even the baby one, it was awesome! We were very close to them, we had them all over us, it was very exacting for all of us, especially for the kids. Our cottage was very clean, cozy and it had a full kitchen, AC, wireless Internet, Tvs etc. Perfect size for the four of us and the bed was soooo comfortable. Any by the way the beach is just about 10 minutes away and it is the cleanest beach I have ever been to. We were more than happy with our choice. They are simply the best... more

My family and I stayed here last season and had the time of our life. We rented a waterfront cottage that had a grand view of the lighthouse and Assateague Island. We spent a lot of our time at the beach but at Snug Harbor they have many things to do also. You can check in and not leave the property and have a great vacation.The hotel offers eco kayak tours around the islands as well as boat rentals and they have their own fishing and crabbing pier. The accommodations were nice with the best waterfront view I have ever seen. We even saw the wild ponies of Chincoteague, how neat is that! more

This marina/motel is a joke. The cabins are dilapidated and do not have even what a basic motel room would have. The shower was dirty and old and the blanket on the bed was just plain gross! There were holes in the grass and the grounds were not kept properly. The staff might as well have gone home for as helpful as they were. Very rude indeed. I am so glad to find Snug Harbor. This cute, cozy and very clean place was a fantastic spot to stay at past summer. Very affordable, spotless and one of a kind. We didn't want to go anywhere else cause we had everything we wanted in one spot. Beautiful view (water, National Park, wild ponies, all kind of wild birds), cozy cottage with very comfortable beds, great customer service and nice breeze. People working at Snug Harbor are very informative, friendly and very nice. My family had a blast crabbing and fishing of the dock ( 5 steps from our cottage!). I wish I had found this place before. I went to Snug Harbor to rental a boat with my family. It was my 23 anniversary and I wanted to do something special. Capt. John greeted us told us the cost for a pontoon was $55.00 an hour. We told him we had to run an errand and we would be back. We came back and was about to pay with a credit card when he said he could give us 10% discount if we used cash. I scrapped up the cash between my teenagers and paid him $115.50. I guess there was tax. I left to get the food while my husband signed the papers. Before we boarded my husband looked upset and informed me we have to pay for gas.I explained this wasnt right he got our money now he tells us. I talked it over and he said he would top it off when we got in then charge us. Well he gave us a limited distance to go and we never had the dock out of site per his map of allowed traveled area. We sat in the boat and just floated to save gas. Pros: none/ I had to rate and they dont have a minus Cons: They never told me up front they charge for gas more

All reviews that are negative are very much accurate. Pay attention to those before believing any review that states any positives about this establishment. The cottage we were in was smaller then a typical motel room you would normally stay in on vacation. Very cramped and also very musty. The shower stall was unbelieveably tiny. Not an enjoyable place to stay, in fact we probably won't return to Chincoteague again. Service was bad everywhere we went. Very disappointed! more

I love Chincoteague and my summer vacations at Snug Harbor. Snug Harbor has the very best location in Chincoteague. The hotel features waterfront cottages right on the bay with a full service marina. If you love nature and the great outdoors you will love this place to! Snug Harbor is not just another plain,average hotel, they treat you like family and you feel as though you have a home away from home. what a wonderful place! more

I always look for a good bargain and I found one at Snug Harbor. My frinds and I rented a 2 bedroom cottage for a long weekend and only spent $350.00, what a bargain. We had one of the best views in Chincoteague. The accommodations were very nice and the service was outstanding and they even have their own private beach....very cool! That place is no good at all! I thought me and my boyfriend could have romantic time here but no i was wrong! Needs much work done in cabins and people working here are no friendly We not pleased with condition of room here, not very nice or modern. I not recommend that place to anyone! more

We love Chincoteague and Snug Harbor. If you are looking for paradise on a budget this is the place! The hotel has very cute waterfront cottages with kitchens, what a great idea for families on vacation to save money. We all rented kayaks and explored the islands and went fishing, we even caught dinner...can't wait to go back! more

If you are looking for a home away from home I have found it. The place is called Snug Harbor Marina in Chincoteague Va.I went and stayed for a week during July , a little bit hot but very nice ! We booked a waterfront cottage with the best view I have ever seen, we got up every morning and had coffee at dockside and watched the wild Chincoteague ponies roam up and down the coastline,very neat. I felt so comfortable at Snug Harbor and in Chincoteague, what a cute little town. We are a family on a tight budget and if you are looking for a great family vacation and you don't want to spend a fortune give them a call. Ok, you will see good and bad reviews of it here, I beg you not to ignore the bad! The cabin smelled bad, looked bad and in general was just bad! The crew who work here are so anti customer service it is awful. They sit around and drink and if you have a question oh my, you feel like you have bothered them so much! Maybe they were just in really bad moods during our stay! I was so disappointed with our stay here, I just saw another review on another site like this and was almost to a tee what I thought of the place so I had ro write one also.
