I have been taking my cats to SMH for over ten years and have always had a positive experience. I have continued to drive to Smithville for medical treatment even after I moved farther away. All the staff are caring and professional. They are willing to do whatever I want regarding my cats and their illnesses but on the other hand have been very straightforward about prognosis. Almost same experience as may 7, 2010 review. I recently relocated, and took my 7 yr old bullie female there due to infected uterus. It took them about 15 hours to kill her, and then tried to charge over $1300 for a 45 minute operation. Dr Tom is a disgrace to veternary profession and should re elvaluate why he became a vet. The staff was nice though!! more

We have been customers of SAH for a least 30 years and have never had a bad experience. They have cared a total of 12 pets for us over the years...4 dogs and 8 cats. They have treated a large variety of illnesses and diseases in our pets with ease. In every instance, they have always put our pets and our needs first. If you want an honest vet and staff that will truly love and care for your pets and you want a clean up-to-date facility that is easy to get to, you will want to use SAH. I highly recommend them. I used their services for my 4, now 3 dogs. I lost one under their care, they give quotes for 'standard' services then say they quoted 'last years price'- 6 months into the year and also complained that 800 petmed prices were cheaper than what they pay, after they called me stating they would honor 1800 petmed prices. I used them for 15 years and REFUSE to walk in their door ever again. A rating was required - otherwise I would nhave given none. Cons: your pets care is NOT a high priorty- Money is more

I brought my 20 year old cat in with multiple concerns. The doctor took one look at my cat and knew it was serious. She thought he had SCC of the jaw. They kept him and did a biopsy immediately. They called me as soon as he was out of surgery to let me know he had done well. The lab result confirmed what she suspected. The diagnosis wasn't good. It wasn't news anyone wants to hear or deliver. We discussed all the available options all while keeping the best interest of my precious baby in mind. We agreed to try pain management to see how he would do. After 30 days, the tumor took over and we had to let our boy go. We called and once again, Smithville Animal Hospital staff came through for us. They saw it through and were very compassionate. They even sent us a sympathy card. While it was a traumatic experience for me, I can't say enough about how wonderful Smithville Animal Hospital is. They are the only facility that will ever see any of my beloved pets.
