We discovered Smithfield Aquatic Center after deciding that Tucker Lake is too crowded, has nasty owners, and is just too expensive for what you get. And I highly recommend this recreation center!!\r

They have both a splash park, which is super cool and tons of fun for babies all the way up to adults. The splash park has its own life guards and is fenced in so that the small kids can't wander into the big pool. The big pool is huge, and also has its own designated life guards. There are lap lanes and play areas, separated. This is definitely fun for the whole family, and it is all indoors so it can be used year round. We really appreciated the pools being indoor this week when the heat index was over 100 degrees every day and I didn't have to worry about my kids burning from the UV rays or getting dehydrated. \r

The entire center is brand new, so everything is amazingly clean. From the bathrooms to the locker room to the gym to the pools. I was super impressed with the cleanliness. \r

And there is so much more to do than just swim! There is a full gym, basketball courts, arts and crafts, a playground, and they do birthday parties!! And the best part...definitely the price!\r

Their website isn't the greatest at explaining the pricing, so I originally thought it was more expensive than it really is. Kids are free, including for the memberships. So everything was half as much as we thought it would be. And their daily rate is really cheap, especially compaired to other pools in the area. Plus they offer a bunch of discounted memberships that they don't advertise on the website, like we got a discount because my husband works for the school system. They have the cheapest birthday parties around, and if you book the last one of the day you get the entire pool areas to yourself (with life guards of course)!\r

This is definitely the best kept secret in Johnston County!
Pros: Splash park, tons of activities, great staff, reasonable $
Cons: None!
