dr. carl smith heads up the ob/gyn program at unmc and he is truly a wonderful doctor! although i have always preferred women doctors, i felt completely comfortable having him do my pre-natal care for me while i was pregnant with my son...he even was there to deliver my son (which if you have delivered at unmc - you know usually a resident ends up being the deliverer) and he made sure to come back and visit us and hold my son...he has a wonderful, caring personality - plus you can tell he really knows what he's doing - puts you somewhat at ease during a scary time! check him out if you're expecting! more

WONDERFUL OB/GYN! 3/21/2006

if you are going to deliver at unmc and want an inhouse doc - dr. smith is the best! he is very knowledgeable and always calmed any of my fears...he is one of the more experienced ob docs there and it seemed like the younger ones looked up to him...i felt completely at calm when he was delivering my son and he even came back a couple times to check on me (which isn't very common at a big teaching hospital like unmc) and just to hold my son...he is a very caring, warm man and would be a great choice for you if you're looking for a ob! more
