Sleepy Hollow Delly

This Deli is not at all littered with alcohol, they hardly even sell a lot of alcohol. It is a convenience for older individuals like myself and women who do not want to go into a bar like setting to get a six pack of beer. I feel it is a great place you can bring your kids to sit and eat. The owner Erin is always so friendly to our grand children, and the employees there are always very helpful. I think the atmosphere inside the deli has not changed over the years, the owner is just trying to keep up with the times by carrying a variety of items for their customers.~~ Beth T. more

Sleepy Hollow Delly is an outstanding deli with quality food. They are famous for their homemade Potato Salad which taste soooo good! If you haven't tried it you really should. Also the catering Hot Roast Beef is excellent, I've tried other places Roast Beef and it doesn't compare to Sleepy Hollow's! more

Sleepy Hollow is a fine standing establishment. Although the 2 owners have somewhat of an attitude problem, the staff there is nothing short of outstanding. From the friendly Greek woman who jokes with each customer to the kids who stand in the back and peel the potatos to make that delicious potato salad, the atmosphere of the "delly" is fabulous. They strictly enforce carding of alcohol and cigarettes and it is uneducated to say they are "littered with alcohol." The staff tries its hardest to remember each customers name and their likes and dislikes. Next time you visit Sleepy Hollow make sure to say a friendly hello to Kerry, Carlo, Bessy, Charlie, Allen, and Rae... and don't forget to try the potato salad! more

Back in the day (we're talking 10-15 years) this was a family oriented place that housed a welcoming feeling when you walked thru the doors. The children in the neighborhood would make a day of it to walk from their house to the Deli just to get a snoopy bar and gum (which they continue to sell, thank goodness!) Today, that is not so much the case as it is now littered with alcohol that is way too assessable to kids under age (but they do card). It has a Bar type look from the outside that coincides with the interior and it just doesn't have the old appeal it used to. It was a proud Springfield Tradition that has just gone south. Many will hold the fond memories of their childhood there at Sleepy Hallow Deli, playing the arcade games and eating ice cream. The Deli is average, and this is not to discourage people from actually visiting the place. It's just sad to see what was once a wonderful, family place, become the total opposite. more

In general this is a good deli, what makes it stands out is its' terrific potato salad! It's not cheap, but boy is it good! Other than that the deli is average, has all the things you would expect for a deli, and the staff is friendly enough. But if you go there, do yourself a favor and get some POTATO SALAD! more
