Check with the Roseville police department before moving in to Slate Creek Apartments. The complex gets a lot of calls for noise, parties, domestic disturbances, fights, etc. I believe that my downstairs neighbors regularly smoked meth. The complex has a high vacancy rate so they seem to do nothing to manage problem tennants. In their desperation to bring in more money, the complex allows small dogs, guaranteeing that there will be several yapping above, below or beside your apartment day and night. My neighbor kept a pitbull, and sometimes had it off leash (it almost attacked my children late one night). I watched a car get stolen (the Roseville police took their time arriving and did not want to report the event to other agencies, assuming it was probably a repossession until the owner noticed the vehicle missing and contacted them).\r
\r
The complex does retain a security firm that supposedly passes through periodically at night, but I sometimes had to call them twice on the same night to speak to the same neighbors, then still had to call the Roseville police.\r

The complex's contract is downright predatory. When you discover the drawbacks and safety issues you'll be very sorry that you're locked into a long term lease with a massive cancellation penalty. You'll be very reluctant to renew, but if it takes you some time after the end of your lease term to find a place to move to, you'll be paying a dramatically inflated month to month rent. Holland America will not accept responsibility for failing to enforce their lease terms regarding noise and safety on the other residents or consider the long lease period that you've already been there when setting the month to month rent price.\r
\r
All in all, it's simply not a situation that you'll want to put yourself into.
Pros: Grounds look pleasant
Cons: Safety, noise, lease terms, unresponsive management, high police calls
