SkateNation Plus

SN+ is a fun, decent place to bring kids 7yrs to teen (or teen at heart). Laser tag is always a hit and, even tho the arcade isn't in the best shape - if your main clientele was a bunch of adolescents what should one expect? This isn't Dave & Busters and you aren't dropping major $$. As far as the tickets/prizes - anyone over the age of 8 knows they are a sucker deal but the kids love it anyway. Relax, play some air hockey. Laugh a little. Last yr they bought a bunch of new rental skates so that is better than most. Watch their specials (sign up for email notifications). Some of their deals are fantastic (including free skate when temp outside exceeds 100*)!! My biggest complaints are 1.) that they often (o.k., usually) do not have adequate staff to assist on ice, behind counters and at the cafe and 2.) skating can be dangerous and Skate At Your Own Risk policy = staff really doesn't know what to do other than call an ambulance if you get hurt. Injuries are COMMON. It gets crowded. Schoolbuses full of campers drop off folks who have no idea how to skate. They will take you out. Advanced skaters in the center will be practicing their spins. Hockey skaters will be speeding around practicing their stops. So, if you or your loved ones don't know how to skate - stick to the wall. Stay out of the middle. Slow down. Take a LTS class to learn how to fall and get back up, at least. Please. more

Bad: The man never returned. The way this man handeled the situation was dissapointing. My son was extremely upset he didn't get to play the one game he really wanted to.. Improvements: We hope that next time we return the machines will be in better shape, as will the staff.. more

Bad: I have only a few complaints. The arade was a mess. The majority of the machines were broken. When I asked for help the manager working told me he would help, then was not seen again.. Improvements: Skate nation would have been a much better experican had the tatooed mananger fixed the game. I was quite disspointed in how he handeled the situation and hope our next visit will be a better one.. more

This is a very nice ice skating rink in the west end. The staff are pretty decent. The size of the rink is quite large. What is most appealing about this ice rink is its location. It is right beside (within walking distance) the short pump mall, movie theatre, Barnes & Noble, and a bunch of nice restaurants. I visit this place after wasting time at the mall and before going to cheesecake factory. It's a fun place to go to. more

SkateNation Plus offers free admission if the temperature reaches 100 degrees. That happened several times this summer. They offer hockey teams and skate lessons. They have a good birthday party package that is reasonably priced. It can get really crowded out on the ice, especially on the weekends. Less experienced skaters need to stick to the perimeter. There are usually some very fast skaters out on the ice. more

Skatenation is a better option for public skating than the Richmond Ice Zone. They offer public skating on a regular basis and have group skating lessons available for the public. During the heat wave they even let you skate for free! They also offer their facilities for group and party rentals. The only negative is some of the advanced skaters aren’t careful around the new ones, and you’re likely to get knocked over. more
