We left our two very healthy spaniels here for two weeks over Christmas. We advised the owner that our dogs have sensitive skin and are prone to infection and to please rinse off the mud to keep their skin healthy. The weather was cold and wet, and the dog pens where they spent hours a day, were muddy, wet and cold. Our dogs were not bathed in those two weeks to remove the bacteria filled mud that permiated their skin and fur. They have been diagnosed with skin MRSA, a severe antibiotic resistant skin disease, and bronchitis. The skin problems will take months of daily injections to get them back to health. And there is a risk of deafness from use of this strong antibiotic.
