Sir Edmond BLAND's is what it should be called.... food was all bland, Sauerkraut was bland, potatoes were bland, Corned Beef was bland. It was all around bland.

Great place to go for a great tasting 2/4/2012

Great place to go for a great tasting Guinness with an atmosphere to match it. No smoking has helped Sir Eds dramatically. Great pub food more

Low Key, Eerily Uncrowded During Lunch 3/2/2011

Had lunch at the newly reopened Sir Ed's in the Park Rd. shopping center this week and it really didn't seem like anything had changed since before they closed down. I did notice they changed out the ceiling tiles and did some minor updates on the interior finishes, but the same old feel remained. As far as the menu, the lunch specials are second to none for their price. They have two price points, 8 and 10 bucks. Both are including tax and you get a meal plus a drink. They have a wide range of items from Sandwiches/Burgers to Traditional Irish/European fare. I decided to go with the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with Jicama slaw and a side of Fries. The Wrap was the same as before, and has good flavor. The fries are steak fries, which are rare to see in restaurants these days, so it was enjoyable. The service was good, probably because we were the only people in there. Just has an overall strange feeling like you are hanging out in a friend's basement in high school, only this is a bit more strange. more

Always 2 thumbs up! 1/12/2011

My absolute favorite place in Charlotte 6/17/2010

This is in my 'hood so the location suits me just fine. However, I love their food and I am a very picky eater. The best thing to get is the Jerk Chicken Nachos. Yum. I literally get them every time I'm there. This is a place to go when you want to get out, have a drink or bite to eat and just relax. No pretentious or ""in-crowd"" types; just those who know how great it is. Anytime someone new moves to the area or I have out of town guests, I always take them to Sir Ed's. Affordability is an added bonus too-both food & alcohol. Pros: Cozy atmosphere inside, nice patio outside, great staff Cons: Sometimes it can get a little stuffy (air-wise) more

Great reviews sold me.....ended up being very accurate 1/4/2010

I must admit, I've lived near SEH's for over 5 months now and I was really hesitant to try it. I've heard mixed reviews (even though i mostly read all good ones). Also, I'm a non-smoker and being in a basement, I figured this was a smoke trap. That all changed with the new smoking laws.....So I finally decided to try it as I really like local spots, especial pub's (the irish in me). \r \r We were recommended the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Nachos as a starter by the waiter, which we tried. Def a great recommendation, the chips were really unique not to mention the jerk sauce and chicken. I had the French Dip Sandwich, that came on a some really good Grilled bread...really thick, great for dipping. \r \r Others in my group had Fish n chips, Cheeseburger, and Broccoli Parmasan sandwich. Everyone liked their food...I wasn't a complete fan of the Broc Parm with so many other good menu options available (i'd go with something else personally). \r \r Overally, really a great local spot for a dark, dim meal and a tall Guinness. Next time i would like to go a little later to test more of the bar/pub scene. I also def need to try out their Stew..... Pros: Pub Atmosphere...darts, Guinness on Tap Cons: Hard to Find more

Best ...Bar -None 2/8/2009

Fantastic menu - from sandwiches to entrees. Terrific wine selection and many beers on tap. Service is friendly and fast. Best staff in Charlotte anywhere.\r Great place to meet friends, old and new. more

Cheers! 1/10/2009

A few years ago a family member steered me to this small cozy pub in the heart of Charlotte. In a town filled with corporate steakhouses and impersonal chain restaurants, a nice old style city pub is a pleasant change of pace. Often misconstrued as an English restaurant , the menu is quite diverse with influences ranging from Latin, Asian , Mediterranean and even Eastern European cultures! As a frequent regular, I am treated as family. A case of nepotism? I think not. Even new faces are treated with such candor. The waitstaff's knowledge of the cuisine is impeccable, and the bartenders will be quick to pour you a ""perfect"" pint of Guiness or one of the other ever changing drafts. As a native ""yankee"" , I often bring out of town relatives and friends to my favorite watering hole. They have never been unsatisfied! A beer savant and gourmand lost in a city of bud light and chicken tenders, I always know I can duck into this charming establishment for good food, great beer and stimulating conversation! Pros: I can't even begin to list... Cons: May be a little crowded on weekends.. more

If Cheers was a real place this would be it!!! 12/20/2008

Wow, The menu at Sir Ed's is a fine piece of work. They have a little bit of everything. The bar food as well as entree's is amazing. The servers are nice and friendly, a bit slow from time to time but never leave you hanging. Bartenders are always there. Pros: Late nite food, Great people watching and meeting Cons: can be smokey at times more

Tried to scam us stay away or pay cash. 6/1/2008

Very lazy service. One guy even asked us to go inside and find some menus....we were eating outside. But the worst part, a week later I checked my credit card. and me and the other 2 guys I were with all got charged about $10 more each than we had originally paid. Bad service is one thing, but thieving service is a whole other level.\r \r I rate this a ""stay away"" Pros: nice outdoor area Cons: Thieves more

Great Neighborhood Bar 4/27/2008

This is the type of place you can bring a first date, start the night, or END the night. Always a good time everytime I've been there. Service can be slow at times, but it's always when the place is packed, which is understandable. If you like sushi, try their's! I was skeptical @ first, but it's really good. They also have a great patio to enjoy the spring / summer nights. It reminds me of the TV show ""Cheers""....There are steps going down the pub. Great atmosphere with dim lighting. Perfect rainy day bar as well. Always good vibes there! more

Delicious! 1/31/2004

We have gone to this restaurant several times in the past months and have always been plesantly surprised.... don't let the ambiance or location fool you. Try what's on the nightly specials for something really worthwhile. Great fish and chips and the cider is on tap! :) Pros: great food, reasonably priced Cons: , location more

Bass..king in Pleasure 4/24/2003

What a great place! For a finer meal, try the ostrich meat loaf. Lighter fare? Then go for the fish and chips. Wines? Many to choose from. And the beers? Great selection! Jeff, Neal and Sven behind the bar, and Tobin in the kitchen. Great and friendly crew! Have F-U-N! more

shocks me every time 10/23/2002

i have tried many things ont he menu, and i a mpleasently suprised every time. not your typical pub fare, good beer selection too. Pros: good people work here, great food, good spirits more
