Great campus spot 12/2/2006

I like Singing Dog, although I haven't been there in quite a while. I'm guilty of buying most of my stuff online now. Anyway, it's the kind of place where you can go in and talk to knowledgeable staff that know about music and can help you find what you want. The last time we were in, we were looking for something pretty obscure and they had it on the shelf. They moved within the past several years, but are really closed to where they used to be. Their old building is one of the ones on High st. that got torn down for the re-construction. more

Get real records - new and old 12/31/2005

Singing Dog has a really fantastic selection of all your media wants and needs. They carry many CD's DVD's and also have a really nice selection of collectors Box Sets - good price too! They also have a room devoted to records for your record player. They carry records for brand new releases and the oldies also. This is a DJ's dream come true. Last time I was there I even recalled finding records of sound effects - pretty neat. more

  • Changing Times
Singing Dog opened in 1980, and carried new and used vinyl albums. These days the selection features CDs and cassettes, but the idea is the same.

    Buy, Sell, Trade
Singing Dog pays cash or gives store credit for CDs and cassettes. What kind? "Anything we can resell," according to manager Marty Cole. Just don't expect to get a lot of money for something lame--the staff knows what's up.

    Just Ask
A couple of the guys who work there have been around for years and are a good source for information and opinion. (Being opinionated about music is a prerequisite for record store employment.) Zach knows a lot about avant-garde jazz, and if Marty doesn't know something "It's not worth knowing," he says.
