I've been going here for years. The Owners are kind thoughtful people and the food is to die for. Honestly it is the best Indian food in San Antonio. The wait staff is dependable, always there to serve, and pleasant as can be. The store is clean, the buffet line is clean, what more can you ask. I love the place. So does my beautiful wife, Isabelle. more

Horrible food and service 12/18/2010

The food here is nothing like how Indian food is supposed to be. They use color instead of spices and everything is bland. The portions are small and unlike other restaurants, they don't serve rice with the vegetables. My husband and I are Indian and haven't had more unpalatable food before. The manager was extremely rude. A forced gratuity of 15% is added to the bill. We paid a huge sum, and left hungry and extremely disappointed. Please save yourself from this torture and try another place instead. more

Rude service, nasty food 10/29/2010

This place was ok; We drove out of our way to experience this ""Indian Delight"". When we arrived to the place, it's decor was outdated and there was no one there. We decided to go ahead and eat at the buffett, only to strongly disappointed. The food looked as if it were purchased in a frozen section, and reheated. The chicken was all dark meat chicken, which didn't satisify me at all. The kaboblooked like sweedish meatballs purchased, and reheated. I voiced my opinion to the guy in the front, and he was extremely rude with me and acted as if I had just dissed his whole family. I would def not go again, and would advise anyone else not to go either. I have eaten at Indian Cuisines from New York, to Detroit, to Miami, and this was definitly not homemade material! more

Best Buffet for miles!!! 5/31/2010

The service was amazing! The triangle stuffed potato things were amazing! All I have to say is MANGO PUDDING Mmmmmm..... Pros: Delicious Tea!!! Cons: Need bigger glasses for the tea. more

Very good indian food and great service 2/1/2010

I'm originally from NYC and have enjoyed Indian food for many years. I feel that I have tasted great indian food to very mediocre. Simi's is very good indian food, the service is great, and management makes you feel very welcomed and treats you as if you are eating in their home. For example, one time the manager came by my table and asked me and wife how our meals were and noticed that we were just about done with our rice and naan. He personally brought a fresh plate of rice and more naan at no cost. My overall experience here has been very positive and I look forward to going back. I've already been there about 4 times and the quality of food and service has been very consistent. I would highly recommend Simi's. Pros: Very good food at a reasonable price Cons: I wish I lived nearer more

Wish I lived closer- I could eat there everyday! 11/10/2009

I drive an hour and a half out of my way at least once a month to eat here. If on a date I highly recommend ordering one of the large sampler plates for two. All of there food is so excellent, if only Seguin had a indian restraunt I would be so happy. Pros: Wonderful service and food Cons: Too far from where I live more

Julissa's Review is FALSE and UNFOUNDED! 7/21/2009

I don't know what Julissa is talking about accusing Simi's owner Ambi of credit card fraud, but I find her accusation to be both unfounded and false. I have eaten at Simi's for the last 16 years, paying by credit card, and have NEVER had a single issue with it. I've never had my number compromised. And I have lots of friends and family who have frequented Simi's and paid by credit card without a single incident. I don't know what the motivation is on Julissa's part to post such absurd accusations, but they are completely unfounded and FALSE! Pros: Excellent Food and Service more

credit card fraud 6/15/2009

San Antonio police have a case registered against the owner of SIMI's Resturant owner in credit-card fraud. He have targeted as many as 1000 customers in a possible fraud scheme.""I believe there's in excess of 1000 customers from SIMI's who have been victimized through this scheme to defraud. He obtain cards from customers and hey would then swipe the card to charge the customer's meal, then swipe it again through a credit card scanning device that saves the magnetic strip information. Pros: Be careful with your credit card Cons: owner is a con more

BEST INDIAN FOOD!! 2/5/2009

I have eaten here more than 5 times and every time it is always pleasant and delicious. The staff is wonderful, the owner always greets us and asks how our food is. The food is sooo good, I do not have one negative thing to say about this restaurant. I always take my family to this restaurant when they come down to visit and they just love it. I will continue to go here and recommend it to family and friends. Love it!! more

Worst Indian Restaurant 12/22/2008

I have eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants both in India and many other places in the world. This place by far is the worst one EVER. The positive ratings are clearly by the people who are associated with the restaurant in some manner. We intended to have a full dinner with appetizer, entree and dessert. However, when the soup came, it was a warmed up canned soup. The manager even said if the soup tastes bad then we can add some black pepper to it and pointed at the pepper shaker. The seekh kabob I ordered were frozen Swedish meatballs with neither the quality of seekh or kabob to it. Pros: can be seated quickly since there is no one there Cons: canned and processed food, fraudulent billing, incompetent and rude service more

Great Food, Excellent Service!!!... 6/3/2007

My family and I have gone to Simi's for almost every special occasion and we will continue to do so. I don't know what happened the night the person with the negative review wrote but Little India is not India. My family lived there and have had authentic Indian food and Simi's is by far, the best Indian food in San Antonio. My sister and her husband had tried a place in Austin and both said it paled in comparison. We have never received such special treatment or great service at any restaurant. Many many times the owner has thrown in free food with our meal. He knows every one of us by name and personally shakes everyone's hands and wants to know how everyone is doing. The Chicken Tika Masala, the naan, the samosas are all to die for. I can't get enough of that place. Give it a try if you ever get the chance. Pros: Great service, great food, great atmosphere Cons: Located in a strip mall, not too big and not the fanciest place but worth it...totally more

Great food and service 3/25/2007

I really enjoy Simi's - I don't find the service cold, I felt like the wait staff was trying to give us space to have a romantic dinner. They never intruded on conversation, but I always had what I needed. I don't know about the rice prices that other reviewers talked about. I think the rice is only 2 or 3 dollars and when we ask for seconds, they never charge us. Also, several times the manager brought us free dessert. The food is wonderful and the bread is light and fluffy - not greasy like some naan or onion kulcha at other restaurants. I've never had a bad experience - I eat there regularly. Pros: Swanky ambience, great food more

SIMIS - A real review, unfortunately, thumbs down 6/19/2005

I lived in little India in New York and really got to know Indian food, etc. Unfortunately this food and dining experience pale in comparison, literally from colorless walls, no music upon entering then bland music, ugly lighting, not romantic or special in any way, and cold service. I should have looked more carefully at the menu, $7 more for rice for your little entree $9-20 (that came out cold) Little bread for extra $3-6, Even charge extra for condiments....(seems ungenerous, ok, greedy) The mango lassi was good.. The entrees not that great, like reheated frozen Indian dinners at Indian grocer.... I suspect other reviews were false because the place is nothing like they describe, is an ugly strip mall experience, poor value, and it was a special day gone wrong Pros: fastseating, not full, only lasted an hour, I know I won't return Cons: not festive, bad value, greedy owners more

Simi's - no atmosphere, charge for salt shakers 5/15/2005

Not worth it. Better flavor elsewhere. No atmosphere, no color, dining room lights look like come from overstock at home depot, walls no color, music blah, no charm, servings little, charge for every little thing, seem profit driven instead of giving you a good meal and experience. If you know Indian food, not that special... unfortunately... Pros: fast seating empty Cons: no atmospher, toomanyaddon charges, lacking flavor more

Simi's is Outstanding! 3/10/2003

Simi's is head and shoulders above the rest! Our Party of 5 was seated right away & the service was incredible. The staff had plenty of suggestions for those that were new to Indian food. They kept our glasses full at all times! When we looked low on rice they brought more! When our naan (flat bread) got cool, they replaced it! They were friendly, polite, & generous at all times. They even brought us a complimentary dessert. As for price, For appetizers, dinner, beverage & tip (& free dessert!) It came out to about $21 a person. We could have spent far less if we wanted to. The bottom line: Great place for Vegans, Vegetarians, & meat eaters, the service was like that of a very expensive restaurant, and the food was out of this world! Pros: Food Selection, Friendly, Food Quality more

The Best of Indian Cuisine 11/22/2002

Having lived in India as a child, I have tried for the last twenty years to find a restaurant that could satisfy my passion for the incredible food I enjoyed in India. My search ended 10 years ago when I discoverd Simi's. The Chicken Tikka Masala is to die for! The service is incredible. The owner and my children have been on a first name basis since birth. My kids love to eat there both for the incredible food and the friendly, attentive service. We left Texas five years ago, but have made multiple trips back to Simi's. It's so good, my in-laws have even had food frozen and transported to us out of state! It simply cannot be surpassed! Pros: Incredible Service, Exceptional taste, Reasonable prices more

So so Simi 11/15/2002

Had the sag paneer and it was too creamy for my taste. The nan bread was wonderful as were the vegetable samosas.I'd say the food was average. The service was good and the price was average for an Indian resteraunt. All in all it was an ok experience. more

The best in town! 5/23/2002

As a vegetarian, I have tried all of the indian restaurants in town and out, and the only place I've found that has food and service as good is Vatan in New York City. I've eaten at Simi's for over five years, and have never been dissappointed with a meal. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the food is always delicious! As for the gentleman who wrote the ""beware"" review, I have never been charged for anything I didn't ask for. On the contrary, the owner often brings me and my guests items to try free of charge. I would highly recomend Simi's! more
