We visited thier model home. It was beautiful. In fact we loved it so much we went home ,looked at our paperwork and said ""This is it! We've found our dream home and our dream builders!"" I am amazed that after everything that has happened that I still remember that night. We spent 5 years looking for our dream home and we did not want to make the mistake of rushing into this. We reviewed our list of ""must haves"" and ""wants"". We revisited every home builder and compared them to Silverthorne. We told them our ""must haves"" and went through the list. We specifically asked about the side yard setback. Our house right now is on top of our neighbors and everyone comments on it and it has been hard to sell. The sales associates looked up the minimum set back and showed us a peice of paper (on Sivlerthorne letterhead) with the min. on it. She even told us to check out Carmel's code and that it is 10 ft as well. They have to build all the houses to Carmel code we were told. They did not tell us the subdivision falls under special rules. Needless to say problems arose. The house next door is less than 5 feet away and with the basement window well, only inches away. Our future neighbors cannot mow their lawn without tresspassing on our property. We told the sales associates and construction manager and were told we were wrong. Weeks later they admitted we were correct. They had other options that would have been preferable but chose not to exercise them. The company's response? It will not affect you or your property and you have not been wronged. Our realtor's response and the response of 4 other realtors ""Get out of the house"". After that incident they put the same brick on the two houses, our front door and window were off centered and a host of other problems occurred. We now either have to pay them 10k in addition to the 10k we paid already to get out or we have to buy a house we hate. I regret the day we stopped by their model home.\r
