Excellent! This is a must in Mt. Vernon. Our whole family enjoyed it. I had a steak; my husband had a full rack of BBQ babyback ribs; one daughter had fried shrimp; the other daughter had a Reuben sandwich; and, our 3 yr old grandson had a homemade corndog, fries and applesauce. Don't miss the homemade potato chips! There is something for everyone here. Great service. Our check under $80+tip. more

I think the steaks at silver streak are the best of anywhere I have eaten. They are always worth the money. I ask for their steaks at every holiday.\r I would like an online menu more

Good menu..no waiting 4/21/2008

New menu with a wide variety of selections. A large selection of seafood. Lunch menu is $8-$10/person. Steaks are around $20 including sides. Service is good. Generally no waiting required. more

Silver Streak Inn 1/9/2006

The Silver Streak Inn is definately one of the best places in Mt. Vernon, Il. to go for the best steaks which include porterhouses, ribeyes, filets and my personal favorite prime rib. Also the menu has a variety of different types of food. You also can get wine, cocktails or beer with your meal or just come in and have a drink. It is a laid back smoke free setting with everyone from all walks of life (including a visit from the Illinois Gov. in the fall of 2005). If you are looking for good food (something for everyone) and good service with laid back atmosphere this is definately the place to go. Pros: inexpensive, non-smoking, good, friendly servic Cons: only 15 tables, may have to wait, non-smoking more
