Editorial review from Citysearch 7/16/2013

For many people out there that hasn't visit Silver Spur, will be surprise how nice and pretty the complex is now. They have a new Management that is very nice and helpful!! The Desert landscape is well kept, the pool & jacuzzi area is very nice and clean and the people that live there also absolutely the BEST. My neighbor is a PILOT and everyone is very sweet, we talked to them when they walk their dog, but yet so much privacy living there!! My husband & I used to live in a super expensive mobile home in Pacific Palisades, that there is nothing like this place. We love it here so much!!! And the location??? You can't beat that!!! 2 minutes drive down the hill, you are at the most popular Mall in the Desert!!. Fine Restaurants etc. So don't always believe what you hear unless you experience is yourself. We couldn't be more happier here!! more

A Park struggling to rebound 2/20/2012

I am amused by the negative reviews of this park blaming all but the low lifes that come here to live. Notice that most complaints come from people down on their luck who have to come here, or who have no place to go but here. That is where the problem begins. It has taken the managers who just left over two years to repair the damages done by previous managers who let the park run down into a ghetto. And a slum landlord owner who is only interested in the bottom line. They had a strict policy on rental and ownership that offended the ones who wanted to bring their kids, drugs, animals and friends into a place they felt they could hide their deeds. They tore down the derelict homes as quickly as the owner would allow so the kids and drug dealers ran out of places to hide and congregate. And because the place had cleaned up and those of us who are respectable and take good care of our properties were actually beginning to feel some kind of pride again, it was time for a manager change because the owner wants to sell! I only hope the present managers are interested in a bit more than just pleasing an owner who doesn't care one bit. But we are already seeing property damage and wild kids again. I fear we are in for another siege unless someone with some kind of class can take over this beautiful piece of property and clean it out for good! And the ones who complain the loudest are usually the ones who were asked to leave or refused entrance. After all, it takes everyone to make a community, not just the few seniors who still take pride in where we live. What a shame for our city. more

Could be a really cool place to live...could be... 8/2/2011

Could be a really great place...like I said it ""could"" be... I most definitely agree with the other reviews on here that the management is terrible and is severely lacking people skills!! The husband and wife that work in the office are on a HUGE power trip. If they were pleasant and reasonable when people move in I think they would get ALOT farther with the renters/owners. From the looks of the park you'd think there wasn't management at all...from their application process and rules you'd think you were living in the Vintage!! If only they knew that you don't start a business relationship by burning bridges the first chance you get. What happened to treating people the way you'd like to be treated? Hopefully they will leave and someone that actually likes working in management/customer service will take over...we can only hope!! more

what the hell happened? 8/2/2011

as some one who used to live at silver spur ( 20+ years ago) i am disheartened to see the shape it's in now! and for the record the park was not started in 2001 like the listing states. Silver Spur has been in Palm Desert since the mid 1950's thank you very much. and before it was a mobile home park it was silver spur ranch ( part of anyway) in any case i was just resently back to look at a space to park my rv and could not believe what i saw! the space i was shown was horrible in the very back, dirty, and the rent was way more than i paid last time i lived there ( 500 now compared to 325 back then) considering the looks of the place i was surprised when the manager told me that my older model rv was to old to be parked in there! considering that my rv is quite a bit newer and in much better shape than fully half of what is in the park i was shocked! to make the long story short i was and still am disheartened that the trailer park that i grew up in has gotten to such a state. more

Silver Spur Mobile Manor-truly 'trailer trash' 1/3/2011

Want to know where the term 'trailer trash' comes from? Look no further. Due to a series of misfortunes, I found myself living here for a brief time. The rent was affordable and the place I rented was decent enough. However, after enough time, I began to see the dark side of this place. The Pros- Great location. South Palm Desert is one of the nicest areas in the Coachella Valley. 2.5 miles to El Paseo. Great hiking trails nearby. Great walking in the area. The Cons- Management. Management. Management. The couple who manages this place think they are Sheriff John and Ms. Kitty- directly out of Gunsmoke. The are rude, nasty, abusive simpletons who are on a power trip. Look around the internet and you'll see stories of them come up again and again. I'm not the first one to notice and make this point nor will I be the last. The pool - it is a septic tank. Until they recklessly add chlorine. And when they do you can spell it for hours around the trailer park. Condition of the trailers. Some are nice. And some have broken windows, torn patio furniture, bicycles on top of sheds, trash strewn everywhere. Management is very poor and allows people to keep the trailers however they wish - and this is where the term trailer trash comes from here at ye ol Silver Spur Mobile Manor. It's a joke. Application- When you rent or buy here you have to fill in a lengthly application giving them all kinds of personal info. Hard to believe they have a screening process here. You'd think by the looks of the place they let any one in. Gated Community- This is the funniest part about this Silver Spur Slum. The gates!! Who in their right mind would want to come in here. The nicest mobile home park is adjacent and that is Indian Springs. The have no gates. Just strict and fair management where people are required to keep their places nice. Pride of ownership there. Bottom line- steer clear of this Silver Spur Ghetto Slum run by a slum lord and angry management. more
