Silver Spoons take pride in the quality care that it provides to neighboring communities. With 11 years of existence, the daycare has promoted accelerated learning, safe environment, and plentiful meaningful experiences for children. The directors, Mrs. Edmondson and Dr. Brujan, have a combined 21 years of early childhood experience. Expertise of such kind is a sure indicator that children are learning, protected, and most of all, having fun every day in school. It is critical to instill love and compassion to children at their most delicate young age…. And that starts at home and preserved at Silver Spoons!
Upon enrolling in Silver Spoons, parents are given a set of parent responsibilities and student rules to remain enrolled in the day care. This system is in place to promote effectiveness and transparency. Among several points of interests, Silver Spoons makes a great effort to prevent bullying in all its forms (i.e., social, verbal, and physical). The New York State Department of Mental Hygiene and Child Protective Services has recognized the daycare for addressing bullying and protecting children from 2010 – 2012. The daycare’s focus on bullying is because 1 in 7 students in Grades K – 12 is either a bully or a bully victim (National Statistics for Bullying Children in Schools, 2012). And though bullying is an international problem, New York ranks as one of the five worst states for bullying (Bullying Statistics, Cyber-bullying Statistics, School Bullying Statistics, 2009). Allowing bullying or intimidation is detrimental and traumatic for any child, at any age, for any reason.
Therefore, Silver Spoons will not tolerate, protect, nor harbor children or families that have difficulty cooperating with others. It is well staffed with trained individuals who love and protect children. It has daily records and anecdotes geared to red flag inappropriate behaviors from parents and their children. Interventions are immediately put in place to address the misconduct. However, some failed attempts are due to bullies and their parents claiming that they are the victims. Unfounded claims and unsuccessful interventions result in the removal of the child and best wishes to their next school. Schools and daycares are often found in these dilemmas but it is critical to focus on truths and supported evidence. The ultimate priority is the safety of all children.
We invite and encourage anyone who would like to become part of the Silver Spoons family.
