Good ""expensive"" food, cozy, fair service. 8/31/2010

We chose the Silver Birch because of it's great reviews on Google maps.The atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming. The shrimp scampi was very expensive for the small portion (4 shrimp), but the steak was delicious. We arrived at 8 o'clock on a Saturday night, and we were told there would be a short wait. We were seated over an hour later, and the waitress seemed VERY rushed, and therefore not personable. We would recommend reservations, overall good food. more

Lovely menu, staff 1/4/2010

A great departure from standard Northwoods fare. It may be slightly pricier than some people's standards but worth it for options beyond burger, pizza or fish fry. Cozy atmosphere and consistent quality. The specials are always wonderful! They are always busy on the weekends - even in Tomahawk's off season. Nice option for those looking for an actual restaurant rather than a bar that serves food. more

Had higher hopes than my experience was 11/4/2007

Lamb was good. Coconut shrimp overcooked. Veal Parmasean was very VERY tough, I brought 3/4 of it home for our dog. It was also given with too much useless pasta with little sauce. Calamari was tough and overcooked. Escargot though was very good. Staff and atmosphere was pleasant. Bar drinks very good. Dinner prices would have been okay if our experience with the food was better. Pros: Staff and environment, bar drinks, some appetizers, select menu items good Cons: food overdone more
