We love Sierra's when the weather is miserable. Stepping inside immediately transports you to the Southwest, Mexico perhaps or even the Costa Del Sol. The interior is faux painted...

OK food, unpleasant experience 4/26/2010

Four of us went the other night. We felt the menu had an interesting mix of tex-mex items and items with a little more flair. The food was decent -- well prepared but the sides were a little cold. The problem was that the place was SO noisy that conversation was impossible without shouting. We like a lively atmosphere. This was just really over the top. Pros: Nice menu Cons: Crowd noise more

Worst Mexican 1/26/2009

It gives me no pleasure to provide a horrible review, but we had a reservation for a January 2009 Friday night to celebrate our daughter's 28th birthday - what a disappointment. Of the seven of us, four could not eat their meals due to the poor quality of the food. Our server asked how our meals were even though four had only one bite taken out of them, and a 15% tip was added to our bill, which would be fine if we had service. The service was horrible, we had to find our own menus, and saw very little of our server. To add to the experience, our table was right outside the Men's room which smelled horribly! We had been to Sierra's years ago and were very disappointed to see how far it has fallen. Step it up Sierras. When we spoke to the manager, no offer to comp even one of the meals was offered, she offered she had never had a complaint before...we obviously will never eat there again. more

only one thing here is worth your money or time... 4/26/2008

At Sierra's there is only one thing worth your money or your time - the drinks. My husband and I just came home from our second visit to Sierra's, and this dinner was even worse than the last. The first time we both had very bland Mexican dishes but a great appetizer called the Texas Tapas. We decided to give it another try since it is so convenient to where we live. Unfortunately, this time the Texas Tapas was not as good as the last time (less flavorful and the steak was poorer in quality), and our meals were equally as unsatisfactory. I tried the Bayou Catfish, hoping that it would be better than their Mexican dishes. It wasn't. The batter was absolutely disgusting, and the sauce provided on the side was nearly as unappealing. Their ""Sierra's rice"" was not very good either. My husband's enchiladas were bland and the chicken was dried out. The chips and salsa are terrible as well. (How hard is it to serve good chips and salsa?!) The worst part of the night was that after telling the hostess that we did not enjoy our meal, the manager came over to us to see what was wrong. When we attempted to explain why we did not enjoy our meal (politely, for their benefit) - to include not only the unenjoyable food but also that my husband's water had gone without a refill for the whole meal, after he had asked for a refill - the manager just got defensive. He said that ""catfish is flavorless"" and insinuated that I couldn't possibly know what a good catfish tastes like (go to Grampa's Catfish House in Arkansas - THAT is good catfish!). He basically asked what the problem was and then didn't listen to a word we said. I couldn't get a word out of my mouth after he started on his lecture. You are much better off making the drive to a better Mexican restaurant like Acapulco's or La Verdad, or even having Amy's Kitchen microwave enchiladas at home! I have no idea why this place is as popular as it is. I know my husband and I will NEVER go back to Sierra's!! Pros: margaritas Cons: food, service, parking more

Best Margaritas, great spot in the middle of nowhere. 1/13/2007

We love Sierra's when the weather is miserable. Stepping inside immediately transports you to the Southwest, Mexico perhaps or even the Costa Del Sol. The interior is faux painted as though it was a hacienda, but the experience does not stop there. This wonderful atmosphere is complemented by unbelievably great Margaritas and a wealth of Mexican and Southwestern selections. Do not think of it as a typical burrito and taco joint; it is anything but that. It simply is a fun place to visit. It is easy to miss as you drive out Route 117. When we first started going there I must have driven by it several times for it is not well marked, but persevere for you will enjoy it. Take along a designated driver if you are up for sampling the vast array of Margaritas; you might even consider a nearby motel so you can sample all those delightful potables. Nevertheless even if Margaritas are not to your liking, the food is worth the effort to go here. Sierra's is simply a fun place in which to satisfy your craving for a good Southwestern repast. Pros: Margartas, food, service Cons: You might need a GPS to find it. more

Best Margaritas in the Boston area 7/30/2006

OK so Sierra's is forty five minutes or more from Boston, OK it's a little unimpressive looking from the outside - but when you taste one of their Margarita's you will be well rewarded for your troubles. Sporting Mexican fare which generally sacrifices authenticity for crowd pleasing dulled down Americanized dishes, Sierra's does not wow you with the food choices. Having eaten there around two dozen times (at least) and having tried around fifteen dishes, I can fairly say the food is good - just not great. The drinks, however, are simply amazing - Iv'e tried Margarita's at all the usual suspects (Border cafe, Cactus Club, Casa Romero, etc.) and over a dozen restaurants in Mexico, Sierra's is the best. Use caution here, should you try them - they are extremely strong (roughly twice as strong as normal). The interior is actually quite pleasing with antler chandeliers and desert motifs topped by a sunny sky-painted ceiling complete with clouds. It is unusually loud here with families interspersed with younger couples finding themselves quite buzzed on their Margaritas. Not exactly romantic, but not a place you should miss if you like Mexican pleasures... Pros: Great place overall, usually no long waits - Simply THE best Margaritas around Cons: Not authentic Mexican fare, loud - bar area is cramped more
