Avoid The ER 5/6/2011

My family and I recently moved to the Marion area. Took my son to the ER in May of 2011 for an object in his nose (yes, typical 2 year old!). Arrived in ER at 10:36 pm. Midnight rolls around and we have not even been through triag yet. Begin talking with other waiting room patients and find out that most of them have been "waiting" since 8 pm. One gentlemen believed to have a broken ankle and had not yet been seen. Another mom and her young child believed to have strep and had not yet been seen. Yet another mom and her infant child (child terribly ill) had been waiting for several hours and had not yet been seen. Considering the nature of my sons visit, I knew that our wait time could easily exceed 6 hours. Please note, that 3 other waiting room patients left the hospital just as I did. For my first visit to this hospital I am very disappointed and will think twice before going there. Also, why is the parking lot so dark? Are they wanting people to trip and fall when visiting the hospital so that they can get more patients or do they want people to get mugged while visiting? What is wrong with this hospital? Why does an ER have 5 + hours wait time when there is no ambulance in the drive up area and no intense emergency patients walking in the door? Do they only employ 1 doctor that goes home between patients? This is by far the worst hospital I have yet to encounter - disappointed that this is my new home town hospital. This site required me to rate the hospital . I preferred to give it no stars. more

THIS PLACE IS A JOKE 6/8/2010

My husband was taken to this ER after an MVA and his chief complaint was of his mid back radiating down his left leg. After waiting four hours in the waiting room and two for the doctor, the doctor said that the mid back pain was from a muscle spasm thats normal. He's had muscle spasms before and he knew it wasn't. He tried to tell the doctor that but he wouldn't listen. Dr. tells him ok well we will do a Cervical CT. THERE WAS NO COMPLAINT OF NECK PAIN! He comes back & says that everything is fine. My mother asks him how did the low back CT look (she already knew he didn't take one of his low back) the dr. lied to her face saying that it was perfect nothing wrong at all. I told him you didn't take a CT of his mid back how would you know that. Dr. said oh um yea your right I didn't its just a muscle spasm he will be fine. Well he isn't fine. The next day we go to a different er and find out that he has a broken back in five different places and if that doctor would've taken a CT he would've known that!!!!!! We received the CT report from this hospital and it was worse. The doctor states in the report that my husband had said there was no pain in his back and mild complaint of neck pain. Later on in the report he contradicts himself by saying that he gave us papers for his mid back complaint. more

Do NOT go to this hospital. We have been to the ER on several occasions, and have never been treated with competency. We took my son there a few years ago. He was 2 and had ingested some Lime Away. They rushed him in, then we were greeted by a nurse who told us that my son had not ingested anything, or he would have had blisters all over his mouth. I had immediatley flushed his face with water before we left, so I was upset that she wasn't listenting. From then on, the wait was slow. Took an hour for the Dr. to come in. In the meantime, he had a bowel movement that instantly burned his butt. The Dr. acknowledged he has ingested poison, the nurse still telling us he hadn't, wouldn't even treat the newly aquired rash. Second occurance, brought my daughter in after she stepped on a toothpick. They took an xray and sent her home in terrible pain, stating there was nothing in her foot. 3 months later, her foot ejected a 1/2 peice of wood..the end of the toothpick. Number 3, my husband went in with extreme abdominal pain that wouldn't go away. 6 hours later, and a few thousand dollars worh of tests, they sent him home with "gas". A year later he was diagnosed with germ call cancer. After reviewing the CT scan's from the hospital, it was very apparent that the cancer was there at that time, still a stage 2, a year later had grown to a stage 3. more

New hospital, new equipment. Most of the staff is friendly, some can be rude. The ER is terribly slow at times, but they give you the attention you need to have when you get back there. The drs there are awesome, great bedside manner for the most part. They also have a new ob ward, which is really nice. Great asset to our community. more
