Worst Experience Ever 1/31/2007

Went to Shulas on a recommend for a friend and was very disappointed. The food was cold and dry. The service was even worse. My father in law sent back his steak 3 times. Never going there again. Cons: bad service, bad food more

Best Steak Ever 5/20/2005

I can say my experience at Shulas was one of the best I have ever had. The steak was so tender that I didnt even need a knife. The servers made our group feel very welcomed and comfortable. Overall this is my new favorite place. Pros: Beef, Service, free parking more

Who Knew!!! 5/20/2005

Let me tell you, I travel all over with my job and never have had such an exceptional dining experience. The BBQ Shrimp all the way to the souffle was impecable. The service staff made me feel so welcomed as a single diner that everytime i am in the area I have to go. Hands down this is one of philadelphia's best hidden secrets. Pros: Food, Service, free parking Cons: Busy more

Outstanding Steak House 5/19/2005

An allround outstanding place to eat excellent food in a wonderful outmosphere! Pros: excellent steak more

Great steak + Football/Shula shrine 5/13/2005

The new york strip is great - flavorful and tender! Definitely worth the price. We had the creamed spinach which was also very good. I loved the dirty martinis here! What didn't I like? I think I liked everything. My only caveat is that every single wall has some type of football photograph/memorabilia, while tastefully done, even higher in testosterone than the average steak house and not an environment for romance. So take your buddies/family here. Pros: Steak, Cocktails Cons: Parking more

An Experience 3/29/2005

This place is more an experience than a restaurant. The atmospehe is gentlemens' club and the service is top notch. The steaks cannot be beat. Dont' go overboard on the side dishes - they are served family style and are plentiful, easy to share. Our really friendly, attentive waiter told us what to expect and made excellent recommendations. You may not even need sides unless you get the small filet mignon. And make sure you try dessert - the creme brulee is excellent. Pros: excellent food, great service, good atmosphere Cons: high priced meat more

A Great Steak!! 8/23/2004

I can't imagine what manbear is saying in his review of Shula's Steakhouse, "Good But Not Good Enough"!! Believe me, I have eaten at every steakhouse in Philadelphia, and although they are all good, Shula's is the best when it comes to the steak, and that is why we are there! Shula's steak was tender, juicy, and absolutely the best, heads above the others, and worth every penny. If manbear thinks that there is more value for the money at Morton's then he doesn't know steak. Additionally you can't beat the service at Shula's. My service experience at Shula's far exceeded the other steakhouses, including The Prime Rib. The only thing about the restaurant that I could do without is the football theme. The decor is club like, and more elegant than the football theme suggests. If you want a great steak, bypass the rest and go to this restaurant. Pros: the steak, service, free valet parking more

Upscale & Classy!!!!!! 8/12/2003

I was in Philadelphia for a leisurely weekend and decided to try Shula's. I was very impressed by the decor and the atmosphere. The service was friendly and the food was GREAT!!!!! Overall a must visit if you are in the Philadelphia area! Pros: Comp Valet Parking, GREAT Atmosphere, Efficent Staff more

Delicious! 11/3/2002

I love this restaurant. I am a single diner and love the convenience of Shula's to my home. Sitting at the bar, eating a great piece of meat and I am able to watch TV. This place is not stuffy. Great bartenders! Try the BBQ shrimp & ribeye steak - the most flavorful I've ever had. Penfolds by the glass! Bon Appetit~! Pros: no wait!, tv's Cons: pricey more

Excellent! 10/31/2002

I received a gift card from a friend or I would have never gone since the Craig LaBan review. Don't know what he is talking about??? This was the BEST piece of meat I've ever tasted! Absolutely delicious! Tables & Chairs way more comfortable than Morton's and you don't have to worry about getting bumped with the meat cart like other places. The place is huge! Staff treated me like I was a regular! Loved it & will be back! Pros: service, quality more

Finally, a GREAT Steak 10/29/2002

I've always gone to Morton's and been unhappy - finally, I got smart and tried Shula's. Football theme, high back leather chairs, humidor available - think that sounds great? Wait until your try the steaks - I've never tasted beef so tender and a medium temperature was cooked to perfection. I don't know how anyone could join the 48oz club - portions are so BIG! Biger than Ruth's & Mortons! Finish the night with a conac & a creme brulee. Service was upbeat & not stuffy! Win! Win! Win! Pros: beef, free parking, ambience Cons: very busy more

WOW! Unbelievable Secret! 10/28/2002

One of the best kept secrets in the city!!! I was at a convention in the Wyndham and tried Shula's for a bite with friends! Ladies, this is the place where the men are! Steaks were cooked to perfection - wine list pricey but still had 1997 california wines available! BBQ Shrimp to die for - porterhouse so tender you don't need the knife - service was very personable...great recommendations on sharing since portions are so big! Way to go , Coach Shula! Pros: free valet parking, cigar bar, great service more

  • In Short
The chop house's elegance is indisputable, yet there is an oddly casual spirit to a place in which the menu is written on a football and set at your table on a kicking tee. Certified Angus Beef doesn't come cheap, and the sides are priced a la carte, but the nationally renowned steakhouse always finds a way to make the cut for those willing to pay for quality.
