Expensive, overly heavy/filling TexMex 7/24/2006

I only went here because I had a $25 gift certificate to it. I figured I could split it with someone, but the entrees were too expensive. Portions are good, but the food just has that nasty heaviness to it that most TexMex places have. You can feel your arteries clogging before you're done the meal. The nachos were ridiculously abundant, a $7 or $8 plate was split by the four of us. I don't know of a better TexMex place in the Manchester area though, so it might be your only choice. Portsmouth, Dover, and Rochester have great TexMex in comparison. more

Good family restaurant 9/28/2005

Our family has always loved Shorty's (and we still miss the original in Litchfield!) I think it's changed a bit in recent years, but it is still a fun place to go for a good meal. You just cannot beat their chips and salsa, served with every meal. Quality of the food is generally very good, with a very large number of menu options. I think it's especially great for kids, and it might be a chance for them to try something different (though they still have the normal kid foods.) I like their salads, but they have very good dishes, presented in a way that can appeal to those who aren't so adventurous! Very cute decor too! more

Great place to eat if you like Mexican food. You will surely run into a friend here as its popular with locals. This is a non smoking establishment which is enjoyable to me when eating out. It can be crowded during the weekends and you may have to wait but go hang out in the bar and enjoy one of their rum runners it is the best around. Don't drink too many though. more

Great food for the money 8/18/2005

There are Shorty's Restaurants throughout NH, but this is the one I attend most often. The atmosphere and food is great. You've got to try the atomic chicken fingers, the espinaca dip, and the fried ice cream! Plus, they have some of the best drinks around! Sometimes, the service can be a bit slow, but it's worth the wait. From what I hear, the owner (a gentleman from the area) hand picks the staff himself. You don't see that every day! more
