During my military service, I would come home on leave and really enjoyed shooting at this range. The quality was superior for indoor lanes and they have a great selection of firearms. I even bought a very nice Sig P220 there and took it back with me for use on tour overseas. The staff was professional and very educated. However recently I got out and returned to shoot and the experience was not the same. Coming from an extensive military combat background I am no stranger to firearms and always conduct any firing excercice, whether for training or liesure, with respect. Since I did not have a badge at the range some of the employee's unfortuneatly did not seem to think so. With all due respect to law enforcement, I have seen some officers I would never want in a firefight with me, so I am not certain that is a good standard to judge proficiency by. A junior staff member at Shooters Station literally hovered over me like a range master the entire time I shot which had not been the case before and did not seem to be necessary for all the other shooters. Also, instead of being relational or at least constructive his manner was domineering and snide. After repeated interuptions, I gathered the boy just wanted to pick on someone or was having a bad day since none of my actions were characteristically unsafe or not in keeping with range rules. I left fairly perturbed and I have not been back to shoot but did go with a friend of mine who wanted to make her first firearm purchase and attend a CHL class. After reviewing the quality of information she was given I recommended she attend a course elsewhere. All that being said, I appreciate safe ranges and do hope they speak up about safety when necessary. If that had been the case in my recent situation, I would gratefully accept the criticism but the employee was just jonesing for some authority and disrespect is something I never have much patience for, especially where it is undeserved. I will be going back again in hopes that it was a one time occurence and look forward to reporting good results.
