ok, I agree mostly with all the other reviews... and, I know that you don't know what was actually going on with the staff, but we really didn't know what was going on at the cash...

Don't go to to Shirt World!!!! it's owned by a pathetic P.O.S. who will rip you off and overcharge you for second rate clothing. I bought some shirts there that fell apart shortly thereafter because the seams weren't sewn correctly! And his buy one get one deal is a joke! The second you walk in the store you are hounded by sales people who push and push you to buy something irregardless of what it is as long as it's a sale. And his sales team did nothing but gawk at me and talk about me in a sexual nature when I was turned around. A bunch of pervs working there! Go to Manny's it a much better joint with class! Go SU!! more

WELL PLEASED 'OUT OF TOWNER'.......... 9/24/2011

I could not have asked for any better customer service. I had purchased jackets @ the NYS Fair as I do every year from SW....Realized days later that I had purchased them too small. I called SW and spoke to a young man who was very pleasant. He advised me to wait until the fair ended, then come into the store to see if they had the sizes I needed.\r When I went into the store Dave took care of me and gave me the run of the racks to see what I needed. I found larger sizes & he switched them with no questions asked. I had my receipt but he never asked to see it. My experience was very pleasant in dealing with Dave and his staff.\r more

No, not Sour Grapes 1/27/2011

I'm not a disgruntled former employee or a competitor of the store. I just had a bad experience at Shirt World during Christmas 2010. I live in San Diego and was back in 'Cuse visiting family for the Holidays. I needed to stock up on Cuse gear and had picked out a shirt for my wife at Shirt World. I waited in line behind another guy while DAVE completed the sale. DAVE fielded 2 - 3 phone calls while helping the customer in front of me. We both exchanged a frustrated look, but we're just going to deal with it. When it came my turn, Dave asked me to ""hang on about 2 minutes"" and proceeded to place another call. So I decided to leave and go to Manny's instead - only to be followed out of the store by a shouting DAVE hurling insults at me. He told me to ""have a nice life"" among other things as I walked down the block. Yikes. more

Sour Grapes? 12/12/2010

Wow ! I have been dealing with Dave and his family for MANY years and while I think some stuff is overpriced, I have never found any discrepancies on my receipts, or seen any evidence of shady dealings. Some of these reviews sound like they were written by disgruntled former employees. Dave is a former kicker for the Orange and had a xouple of ""cups of coffee"" in the NFL and I think he still feels a closeness to the program, which is why he freely talks about teams with customers. MStreet is a pain most of the time, but will still check things out at Shirt World when on the hill. more

I'm an old worker, I've seen the pro's and con's 11/18/2009

ok, I agree mostly with all the other reviews... and, I know that you don't know what was actually going on with the staff, but we really didn't know what was going on at the cash registers, we weren't allowed anywhere near them, it was either Dave, his wife, or his parents (who i do believe have been screwed over once or twice by him) even the manager when i was working there wasn't really allowed to work the cash register too many times see the thing is, he changes prices on deals every 15 mins throughout the day, nothing stays the same, so what we're telling people at the racks, really does change as it moves towards the registers... and he holds onto any penny he can... one day the manager worked up like 12 hours overtime on a salary pay and instead of paying her the extra money he jsut gave her an extra day off, which sucked enough because it ended up on a friday and she only got sundays and wednesdays off he jipped me off a lot, and most of the staff there are college or highschool kids working under the counter so they can't complain about him cutting them but, on a lighter note, he does sometimes come up with really good deals, he does have some good quality clothing, and a lot more choices than Manny's or whatever the other store around that area is if you really want to buy something from him, buy it from the shops he opens up in the New York State Fair, everything is dropped in prices and compared to the store prices which he doesn't drop while the Fair is going on, they're about $15 on average dropped... just make sure you have cash on you, it gets you around the credit card problem and also comment to him about his awesome football career, he used to be a kicker on the SU football team then went on to NHL, get him talking about that and show that you're genuinely interested in it and he might give you another deal Pros: it actually is good quality gear and a lot of choices Cons: watch the receipts and watch the prices on the racks more

Dave is white trash 10/18/2009

Dave, the owner of this store runs the biggest scam in all of Syracuse. This guy would rip off his own mother. Anytime you go in to buy an item from this store, Dave or a sales associate will talk to about the Syracuse game to try to distract you. Once he has done so, he will rip off the price tag or switch the item for a different one. He will mark up the price and not give you a receipt. This way you will have no proof that he has done anything wrong. If you are an consumer of Syracuse apparel do not shop at this store and please refer to the better business bureau with any wrong doing. Pros: Not a dam thing Cons: Everything dont buy from thios guy! more

Are you kidding me? 5/25/2009

Recently was in town to wanted some SU gear. Stopped in to Mannys before heading to Shirt World and bought a few things. Upon heading into Shirt World I was accosted by the owner for shopping Mannys first. When leaving the store I said "" Have a good day"" and the response was ""Yeah, whatever"". Later was walking by the store and a bum asked for some cash. The owner then came out and said "" They won't give you anything."" I asked the owner what his problem was and was waved on. I know quite a few people up in the area and will advise them to never, ever shop at that store again. It just takes one person to spread the word.\r Pros: Nothing!!!! Cons: Everything!!!! more

First hand experience of what was going on 2/26/2009

I used to work here. It took me awhile to catch on to what was going on, but after awhile I saw it. While the owner, Dave, rings you up, he will chat about everything Syracuse related to get you to pay little or no attention to what hes doing on the register. He especially got the students good who would just hand over their card and sign for whatever price he gave them. Im not sure how he calculated the amount to over charge, but it was usually enough to have people realize it later and come back and complain. Also he will tell you the cost of the Syracuse merchandice is so great becasue he has to pay for royalties, but what he is doing with 75% of the merchandise is putting offical logos stickers on the tags of cheap shirts he has printed with no royalties paid to the university. Pros: There is a lot of different merchandise Cons: The owner's a con artist more

Great Selection and Deals If your on your toes and keep an eye on the shady sales staff 2/25/2009

The store was a little cramped but filled to the gills with deals and selection, but a bit shady. Was visiting cuse recently and was amazed to find a shop so close to the Dome with the deals and selection that Shirt World had. I purchased what should have been about $170 (including tax) in merchandise but was charged $202 on my statement and the receipt was not in the bag. Was also told while I was there that they had a website but was currently being reconstructed. Got some great gear, but wished I had read the previous review before I went. My advice is ask for the receipt in hand and review the itemized listing and compare it with what you purchased before you leave and with that in mind you will score. Pros: Selection and Deals Cons: Shady Sales Team and Mysterious Card Charge more

they steal from you 2/27/2008

watch their credit card scam and the over charging of merchandise. double check the prices of everything before you purchase anything, and check your receipt as soon as you get it.....and make sure you get it, don't believe it's in the bag like they say Pros: they really do have a great selection of clothing Cons: they'll rob you with a smile on their face more
