A well planned city, Cerritos is home to one of the nation's best performing high schools, the world's largest auto mall, a college, a performing arts center, a 85,000 sq foot, titanium-walled library with a 15,000 gallon, shark-filled aquarium AND a huge T-Rex...Cerritos seems to have everything and sounds over-the-top, but sadly, in planning this over-manicured community, nightlife was an afterthought.
If you're in Cerritos and you're looking to have a drink, you really only have a few options...
1) BJs - Great place to watch a game, good happy hour, but only open until 12am on weeknights, you'd better be looking to go home early...*yawn*
2) T.G.I. FRiDAYS - Smoking patio, open late, full bar...but c'mon, do you really want to be drinkin' across the street from the police station?
3) Shipmates - Hidden in the back corner of a strip mall, Shipmates is where you drink in Cerritos...pool tables, live DJs, plenty of TV's to watch a Laker game, great line-up of beers on tap; this is not some lame chain restaurant, this is the only real BAR in Cerritos! Stop by for a pitcher or a pint...
Pros: Full Bar, Good Draught Beer Selection
Cons: Food looks iffy--but this is a bar dammit!
