Great all around practice 10/16/2008

After relocating to AZ in 05, it was recommended to me to take my children to Great Destinations. Prior to arriving here, I knew only a few people. It is a 45 min drive to Dr. Gettleman's office from Surprise but worth the drive. Even though Surprise has built out so much in the past 3 years, the thought of saving on gas, time has crossed my mind. Once I started investigating new offices, I was amazed at how poor the service was and appreciate what we have! My youngest is asthmatic and my oldest is ADD. Dr. Gettleman has always been very open and honest, knowledgeable and down to earth about the use of meds and the pros and cons. The boys see specialists recommended by Dr. Gettleman's group, which have been wonderful as well. When we have a scheduled appointment, his office always make the boys feel special. It has always made our visits much more enjoyable for all, especially when it comes to shots. Also, the fact that they have a sick and well room, is huge with kids and colds, especially with asthmatics. Thank you Dr. Gettleman and your office! Pros: Wonderful service and care, billing/office accuracy is high, nurse triage always calls back; Cons: drive time for me is high but worth it! more

Favorable review of Dr. Mark Gettleman 7/9/2008

I am writing this review in support of Dr. Mark Gettleman. I am a physician myself and as of July 2008, we have a 2 and a half year old daughter and 3 triplet boys that are 4 months of age that see Dr. Gettleman.\r I am also a physician and am responding to the unfavorable review that was posted back in May 2007. I respectfully submit that every patient has a right to change physicians if s/he disagrees with the doctor. While it is regrettable that the parent did not agree with Dr. Gettleman's style and delivery, his medical background, training, and bedside manner are perfectly acceptable and satisfactory.\r Medicine is never an exact science and there are different ways to raise children and pediatricians and doctors alike will also have different treatment plans for their patients.\r I have often disagreed and even challenged Dr. Gettleman myself and asked him about other medical guidelines (such as the World Health Organization, WEB MD, my own pediatric textbooks), etc.\r As the cliche goes, ""there is more than one way to skin a cat.""\r Pros: On-time, ample parking, professional and courteous staff more

Gettleman, Mark, MD - Great Destinations Pediatrics 9/25/2007

I completely ""disagree"" with the Malicious review regarding Dr. Mark Gettleman. I first met him over seven years ago when he instructed the pre-natal class I was a participant in. He was just as knowledgeable and reassuring back then, as he is today. He has been my child?s pediatrician since she was an infant, and I wouldn't change a thing! As a matter of fact, I have to request him when my daughter is sick because he is the only one she wants to see! In addition, he cares about the kids and cares about the parent as well. He has never steered my child or myself on the wrong path, or given a misdiagnosis, never. He is intelligent, caring, knowledgeable, and I completely trust him. \r more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS DOCTOR 5/22/2007

Whatever you do, do not take your child to Dr. Gettleman. I have never received such rude treatment in my life. He may have a good beside manner with children; however, if you don't do things HIS way he gets very nasty. He actually tried to tell me that I needed to quit breastfeeding my 13 month old son because ""If I don't cut him off now, he'll never stop nursing"". Apparently he is not familiar with the World Health Organizations recommendation to breastfeed for at least the first 2 years of life. Do not waste your time on a doctor that employs scare tactics to get you to do things his way, it just isn't worth it. Pros: good beside manner with children Cons: rude, employs scare tactics, does not follow recommendations of the WHO, anti-breastfeeding more
