I just used shepard excavating for a project we had around Onawa, IA. I am located in Sioux City, Iowa. I had a tough time trying to find a dependable dirt work guy in Sioux City to work on this project in Onawa & decided to go a little sound to Blair & Omaha to see if I could find someone. I found Elwin through a referal that uses him in Omaha & he was great. I don't really have anything negative to say... The pricing was fair & the work was great. He even did some of the small little things that you don't see everyday from a rushed crew. I felt almost like I was his only customer & he was dedicated only to me. I am a contractor in Omaha & do work around the Omaha Area. - I used Elwin for a job I had near Blair, Nebraska & he did such a good job, that I had his quote some jobs for me in the Omaha Area & he did well there as well! I would recommend Elwin & the crew at Shepard Excavating to anyone. They are a great buch of guys... If I haven't make any changes, then the price that I am quoted has always been the price I have been charged! I am very happy with them & I think you will be to... I find this very hard to believe! - Elwin & everyone at Shepard Excavating were very pleasant to work with. From the beginning it seemed like they genuinely cared about my business. I have dealt with another excavator in town & it didn't turn out so well. Midway through the project the excavator said they had to go to another job. It was almost as if my job didn't matter anymore & they were going to finish it when they wanted. I called Elwin & he was happy to finish the project for me & now he has done 3 other jobs for me. I really love his work, comes in at a fair price & treats my project like I am his only customer! About the pricing... 1 project I had I added to the project midway through, price was faily adjusted accordingly. The other 2 the price I was quoted was exactly what I paid. This place may put in the lowest bid, but you also get what you pay for. They are late to get into a job site and even later to leave. The work they do in sub-par and needs constant touch-ups because they refuse to work with the people they're servicing. Their equipment is run by people who are under-trained and paid even worse, so they have no incentive to do things correctly and very rarely listen. The owner has an attitude, and has a tendency to yell when things aren't going his way. Horrible beyond words and my last pick for dirt work and services in town. They also manage to stick you with hidden charges, so the bid you get is not the bill you pay. more
