Ok, here's the real story about this place. Just got back from a dinner there with my wife. We are a young couple. Firstly, if you've never been to SD, then you may be taken aback by the beauty of Coronado. However, don't be fooled by this restaurant. I thought that since it was part of the Hotel Del Coronado, then it was sure to be good. i was sure to be dead WRONG!
Where can I start? The Lobster bisque tasted like a big bowl of butter. Speaking of grease, the bread they served was drenched so badly in cheap olive oil that you couldn't help making a mess of your hands, face and chin as you ate it. And it tasted like crap.
The Mussels were not clean. I don't mind a little ocean fuzz on my mussels but that was ridiculous!
The overpriced steaks were dry, tough and really not tasty, even when we asked them to be cooked at medium and medium rare.
For all that, my wife and I, paid a whopping $130 before tip. This place sucked. The wait staff are attentive and friendly, but stay away from the food, for real. I wish I were joking. This place is a horrible, horrible place to eat.
Perhaps it's a good spot by the ocean to have a few drinks but even then, be careful what you wish for.
