Sheepshead Bay Nursing Home

5 stars as far as I'm concerned. My mom was here for 12 weeks rehab after a horrific 8 week stay at Norwegian Christian Home where all they can boast is a great nursing staff, the therapy is just plain bad. So happy to have transferred here. Nurses are attentive, cheerful and knowledgeable. Aides aide with a smile! Last, and definitely not least, the therapy department is exceptional. They're enrolled in your success and it's big, bright and full of equipment and therapists who care. They're concerned, and trained! The building is small, almost like a small hospital, it's clean and busy. I never had any problem with any of the staff. If they were concerned about anything with my Mom they would get me on the phone. I'm so grateful for their care and help during a time that was very stressful and scary. A very special thank you goes out to all the nurses and aides, especially Smith and Lana, who took care of my mother and made her smile every day. \r I'd recommend Sheepshead Bay to anyone who asked. Pro: Excellent physical therapy department (floor 6); clean facility. Cons: Nurses (on 5th floor) treat elder patients and their relatives like non-live objects. Nurses do not have name tags , they do not introduce themselves , do not say ""Hi"" , do not smile. No common courtesy. Every gesture demonstrates that nurses ""have other plans"" and patient bothers and irritates them with their needs. Maybe it is caused by the fact that Shepshead - the only for profit facility in surrounding area, maybe just management because physical therapy personnel have names and extremely dedicated to every patient. But you should think twice to before leaving your parents there. It would be hard to find animal shelter where personnel so obviously hates their patients. more

If you have to stay in such a place,let it be here-I had top notch therapy and nurses. My favorite nurse,Georgia Reed was exceptional.The care patience and skill was first class. My therapists were fantastic. Downside was I am 46 and age group here is over 60 crowd. I didnt care,I wasn't on the love boat,I was here to recouperate and .leave. The patio is gorgeous,I kept up my tan. Was there from Labor Day weekend till Veteran's Day. Did I also mention the cleanliness? Not once did I incur an odor. Ok, I did but it was in a bathroom. MY MOTHER SPENT WELL OVER A MONTH AT SHEEPSHEAD BAY NURSING HOME & REHABILITATION CENTER AT 2840 KNAPP ST BROOKLYN, NY. MY MOTHER AND I BOTH FEEL VERY PLEASED WITH THE CENTER'S SERVICE AND CARE. I NOTICED FIRSTHAND THE GREAT CARE THEY TOOK IN MY MOTHER'S REHABILITATION PROCESS. MY MOTHER DID MAKE SOME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FOOD, HOWEVER WE BOTH GAVE THE CENTER FIVE STARS. THE SERVICE AND CARE DISPLAYED BY THE ENTIRE STAFF WAS WELL OVER THE TOP. GREAT JOB!! Unfortunately, my mom was not eligible for services at Knapp Street-Sheepshead Bay facility. However, when I visited, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service that was afforded at this facility. The admissions director was very helpful, and explained all the services in detail. The person who toured me was very thorough, and he answered all questions with regard to rehabilitation. The very first thing one should notice about rehab/nursing homes is that it appears and smells clean - this place was outstanding!
