Metropolitan in the South 1/29/2008

I recently moved to the South from Boston and have been looking for a good place to have my hair done. I've tried a few places and unfortunatley they ended up being too hokey and my highlights looked like everyone elses. A friend recommended Shear Xpectations and for the first time since I've been here I felt like I was in a real city! They were friendly, but not overly so. Very professional and finally some highlights that remind me of home. I'd recommend them to anyone, especially if you are used to living in a larger city. more

Terrible Service 12/26/2007

I went to this place because of the great reviews I've read on this and other websites. Well, I have to say that I had a terrible experience. The person who cut my hair did not spend any time trying to figure out what I wanted and I had to come back two times before she could get the hair on the back of my head look straight. I felt that she did not put any effort into cutting hair and could care less who I looked. Don't go to her (she is the one with short hair). more

LOOKING FOR A COLORIST!!! 11/10/2007

f you are looking for a colorist, I recommend Blair. I recently moved to Columbia and was hesistant to try a new place after being with my hairdresser for over 5 years. I have tried pretty much every color and have come to have high expectations. Maria did exactly what I asked for and made it look very natural. She is very precise and has a lot of patience. Her experience shows. Pros: Color, Great with Time, Friendly Cons: NONE!!! more

Best Salon 9/5/2007

After moving away from Columbia, I've searched and searched for a comparable salon. Even in a bigger city, with many choices, there is none that compares to Shear Xpectations. The genuine concern for the client's well being and happiness shines through in everything they do. When going in I was seen by Blair. She cut and colored my hair. I LOVED IT!!!! She was a very sweet person and great to talk to. She attention to detail, timeless and trendy styles, and artistic abilities o help lead this whole salon to be one the best anywhere. Columbia is lucky to be home to Shear Xpectations!!!! more

Beautiful salon 9/2/2007

I recently went to Shear Xpectations to have my hair cut. As soon as I walked in, I fell in love with the salon! From the outside, it doesn't really look like much, but when you walk in, it's absolutely beautiful! The decor makes it very upscale, but the prices keep it affordable. I never would have expected to find such a chic salon on this side of town. I sure am glad that I did! more

Fantastic place! 9/2/2007

I frequently visit Shear Xpectations for various services. It's hard to say which stylist I love the most, because I trust all of them for my hair needs. Their nail techician, Sabra, is wonderful! And whenever I need a little something extra to make my day, I see their esthetician, Heather. Pros: Selection of products and services, staff is very professional Cons: none! more

Awesome hair cut, great atmosphere, super friendly staff 7/28/2007

I had a wonderfull experience at this salon. I have tried Logan Rayes, and Mane Image and were dissapointed with the hair cut along with the high price. This salon was affordable and Stacy (I highly recommend her) was an awesome stylist. She told me exactly what to expect. Stacy is definately the girl to have cut your hair!!! Good Hair - Changing Prices 9/30/2006

I have had my hair done there several times over the past year. I almost always like the way that my hair is done. What is disconcerting to me though is that every time I go there I am charged a different amount for the same service - and of course it is always $20-$30 more than the previous time. It sort of feels like they make up the price when you check out. My suggestions would be to get a clear 'quote' for your service each and every time you go. more

The Absolute Best-No competion! 3/30/2006

I turned to them after reading positive reviews and had my hair straightened(I looked like a poodle for most of my life), colored and cut. Stacy knew exactly what to do and what would look the best. She gave me the best haircut I have ever had. My only regret is that I will not be in this area permenantly so I could go there for all of my hair issue...Anyone who wants only the best should go here, I just cannot say enough about them... Pros: Very Knowlegable, Professional, Carin Cons: None more

SHEAR XPECTATIONS IS A REAL FUN AND EXCITING PLACE TO VISIT. YOU CAN GET YOUR HAIR STYLED, MAKE-UP DONE AND YOUR PICTURES DONE ALL IN THE SAME PLACE. I HAD SO MUCH FUN GETTING MY PICTURES DONE IN THEIR STUDIO. THE PHOTOGRAPHERS NAME IS PATRICK AND HE MADE ME FEEL LIKE A MODEL. BLAIR AND JILL DID A GREAT JOB ON MY HAIR AND MAKE-UP. I PROBABLY GO IN THERE ONCE A WEEK FOR SOMETHING EITHER GETTING MY NAILS DONE OR MY EYEBROWS WAXED. OVERALL I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE. PROS: THEY OFFER SO MUCH STUFF...HAIR, NAILS, PHOTOS,ECT. I think Shear X rocks!....they have the most wonderful, friendly, and well trained employees, the salon looks amazing, and you can go in and get everything done... your hair, your nails, a pedicure, massage, waxing, and they even have a photography studio. I would continuously recommend Shear Xpectations to anyone for any of the services that I know they could provide. more

Wedding Day Hair 11/20/2005

I had my hair done for a friends' wedding here. I wasn't impressed, but wasn't exactly disappointed either. My hair looked nice, but it didn't really flatter my face. My friend's (the bride) hair fell out during the reception. My hair stayed put, though. Overall, not a bad job, but not somewhere I'd probably visit again. more
