Fun place to let it all hang out 2/21/2006

Shattuck Down Low is a fun bar to bust out the mikes and sing. The Karaoke bar has a great selection of songs and, with enough requests, you can get additional songs added to their song list. The drinks are decent and not too expensive. They have small tables to sit at, a dance floor, a lounge area with sofas and booth seating and some pool tables. Good place for group outings. more

    Shattuck features one of the East Bay's largest dance floors--complete with elevated stage and light-bedecked bar. Throughout the weekend (starting Thursday night), casually dressed UC students and Berkeley locals come to blow off steam. Three bars offer an ample selection of good liquor (including well-crafted, single-barrel whiskies) and lend classiness to the joint. Karaoke, live funk and DJs spinning a repertoire of styles--hip-hop, dub reggae, drum and bass--give this space a sense of diversity.
