My experience started out well, with the estimator arriving on time and providing a quick, reasonable quote. However, the rest of the experience did not go as smoothly. The estimator told me that I could schedule within two weeks so it could be completed before we had new flooring installed. So, I faxed the contract and waited to be called to schedule. After three days, I hadn't heard anything so I called them. I called them three times over four days before they would schedule my appointment. Then, on they day they were supposed to come paint, they called at 7 am and asked to postpone one day. I agreed. The next day, they were to arrive at 7:30-8 am but called to say they were running late. Upon arriving at 9:15 am, they began to work. The sub-contractors made me a little nervous so I called my husband to come home from work to be with me and my 8 month son. He was able to get back to work quickly, though, because it didn't take the sub-contractors long. They were finished with the job, which included a hallway, two story foyer, office, and child's bedroom, in approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes. The job was supposed to include two coats of paint. They did not use tape around the woodwork and they did not patch the holes in the walls from the previous owner, as I had asked them to do. When I went to inspect as they were leaving, I asked about the holes and they wanted to patch and paint on the spot without waiting for the spackle to dry. I know enough about dry wall to know that if you don't wait for it to dry, it will bubble or sink. So, I had them leave the spackle bare and leave some paint, and I had to finish the job. I also had to patch some additional holes that they left (I didn't notice them the first quick inspection). Also, the painters got some white paint on the carpet in my son's room, and there was an issue with the top of the walls in my son's room. I contacted Sharper Impressions with my problems, and the project manager came out to look at the problem. He agreed that the paint job was less than acceptable and offered to come out and fix the walls as well as give me $1000 for the carpet damage. We scheduled an appointment three weeks later for the walls to be fixed. Two and a half weeks later, the project manager called and stated that they would no longer be willing to agree to the plan that they originally offered. Instead, they wanted to file an insurance claim. However, the insurance adjuster would not be in the office for an additional week so they would come and patch the walls, take the payment for the walls, and leave me responsible for working with the insurance company to fix the carpet. I told him that I would not be interested in working with their insurance company, as it would be a hassle. I stated that I would like to continue with our original agreement, as proposed by Sharper Impressions. They stated that they were not willing to oblige. I have emailed twice and called the owner, but he will not return my calls or emails. The original estimate was on 9-22-09. It is now 2010, and we have not reached an agreement and I have not heard from them.
Pros: Quick, Reasonable Estimate
Cons: Poor quality, spilled paint on carpet, didn't tape woodwork
