I'm not an "Avid" bike rider..... But for years I have been lugging my bike over to Everglades National Park aka SHARK VALLEY.
After the drive on Krome you reach Shark Valley. There is a fee for all vehicles to enter $10... but the annual pass is only $25... so if you go 3 times in the year you have gotten your monies worth.
Being bottles of water, insect repellent....and a bag lunch. At the 1/2 point of the 16 mile trail, there is an observation tower that overlooks the everglades. It is a gorgeous view! Great for taking pics, relaxing, and eating your lunch (except the signs say no food b/c of the animals).
THe ride is best during certain times of the year. Jan - April you will find a lot of alligators and their babies visible from the trail...
It is a relaxing day!
I would not recommend this for young children, 16 miles is a long ride for them to peddle and or to sit in a carriage seat!
leave them at home and go with your friends or significant other.
