Sharfae, Maggie, Dds - Modern Family Dentistry

I've been a patient here since 2000 and both Maggie and Ben have taken care of me. Throughout my life, I've had numerous dentists but also as a health care educator (I'm a Professor at UT College of Pharmacy), I understand and recognize great clinical training and expertise - and Maggie and Ben are simply fantastic. As my teeth aged through my 40s I developed numerous cracks and needed a few crowns. Maggie did most of these but my last one Ben did - and they are absolutely perfect. They are very very patient in verifying the biting surfaces match perfectly on new crowns - a difficult and nerve-wracking procedure when the patient is numbed up! I had also developed some sensitivity and pain which turned out to culminate in several root canal procedures. I never forgot the time my brother had a root canal in 1966 and the pain he experienced. My roots are very intricate and so Maggie referred me to an endodontist - I was very impressed and thankful that Maggie had the acumen and concern with me as a patient to send me to a specialist. He worked VERY hard to fix my problems and he saved all the teeth! Thanks Maggie! Finally, since I had a common weakness in my enamel as a child - I had numerous mercury amalgam fillings which dated back to the mid 1960s. In fact, virtually every tooth in my mouth had a metal filling (except my incisors and canines) and Modern Family Dentistry (MFD) has replaced all of them in the early 2000s and since then I've had no problems whatsoever, my oral health is fantastic and my bite is completely pain-free. Ben has been taking care of me over the past several years and he is absolutely great. Also, they always have top notch hygienists - in fact Haylee really impressed me last week when she remembered lots of things about my prior visit and status and wanted to insure I was progressing nicely with my gums and new sonicare brush. Thanks Haylee! All the people at MFD are fantastic - very very caring and professional - I should know - Ive been going there for over 12 yrs and I have big, white, healthy smile to prove it! I've had my best experience at a dentist office here. I was referred to go here by my root canal specialist and I could see why from the moment I walked in. It was a pleasant office, staff and doctor. Everything went smoothly, no pain, no surprises. I really liked the nitrous gas and TV's in the ceiling was a nice touch and a very good distraction. I also liked the before and after pictures of the work they did. more

Well I was recommended to go here. It was good at first and then they said that I couldn't even get a regular cleaning. I had to have an advanced cleaning. I understand what they were telling me, but I don't have bad teeth and think this $500 cleaning, thats with insurance, that they are insisting on is unnecassary and I am going to now use my second of two cleanings visits on a second opinion Who knows, they could be right but I'm betting against it. I'll let you know Pros: I was told that I need this with no explanation until the end when I asked a million question and finally got answered thoroughly. more

The hygenist is extremely condescending and will insinuate that you don't take care of your mouth at all even when you do. Horrible experience! more

I saw Dr. Sharfae about 2 years ago and she told me then I had some cavities. I left her practice because I had just seen my old dentist a few months earlier and he had told me everything was fine. After Dr. Sharfae, I went to another dentist who again told me everything was fine. About 2 months ago I had a couple of sensitive teeth. My dentist now tells me I need 2 root canals. These are the same two teeth as far as I remember that Dr. Sharfae had told me needed fillings just 2 years ago and I didn?t believe it. I got a second opinion today and again was told I needed two root canals because of cavities that had made it to the nerve. I just wanted to post this for two reasons. First to say I?m sorry to Dr. Sharfae for not believing her. Secondly, how is one to know when it comes to dentists. I saw one before and one after Dr. Sharfae who apparently didn?t see a cavity, and now I have to have root canals and crowns? Pros: Honest, skilled Cons: none more

Service was good. But she tried to do procedures that didn't need to be done. So, I was dissapointed. more

Dr. Maggie, Laurie, Tony, and everyone else I forgot to mention in that office is exceptional. The best care I have ever recieved. I walked in with an emergency and was an emotional basket case. Every single person in that office was kind, caring and compassionate. I love them. I would recommend them to anyone. Dr. Maggie Sharfae fixed my front teeth after years of braces did not get me the results I wanted. I saw several dentists and she was the most knowledgeable and caring. The treatment itsself was very comfortable and pain free. I have since sent lots of friends to Dr. Sharfae and they all share the same positive experiences. I highly recommend Dr. Sharfae to anyone that wants a healthy and beautiful smile. more
