I went to Shanti for a hair cut and foil. The stylist was Vincent and he did exactly what I wanted. He really listened to me and was so professional yet personable. I love my hair. Shanti is a full service salon and spa so I am going to try some other services too. I would say " Go to Shanti" You will love it. Pros: FREE parking more

I was pleased enough with my service to highly recommend Shanti to anyone looking for professional hair or nail services. I will definitely go to Shanti again because I love Aveda and Shanti is the only Aveda salon in West Seattle. There is also plenty of FREE parking in the lot behind the salon. Also no hectic commute to get to downtown. Open 7 Days - a BIG plus! I gave them 5-stars because I feel they certainly earned it with my last 3 visits. I found Shanti Salon to be exactly as they advertised themselves on their website: shantisalonspa dot com I got an impressive consultation on my new hair color. My new stylist spent a couple hours weaving, and designing a fabulous looking new color. It was relaxing, worry free experience. Janis did my nails while waiting for color processing and even gave me a generous discount. The Salon Decor has a Mediterranean theme and is superb! The atmosphere is amazing and I think it's because of the friendly, laid-back attitude of the staff. The Shanti staff were very gracious, helpful and polite. Their skill level is very high. I'm a CPA and I need to look very professional. Another great thing about this salon is it's product line, the only AVEDA salon in West Seattle. The owner Amy met me, and offered her help. I am pleased enough to highly recommend Shanti to anyone looking for very skilled hair or nail services and I will definitely go to Shanti again. I was approached by Catherine on the 1st day of the West Seattle Street Fair. She gave me samples, and said she was a stylist at Shanti. She was very exotic looking, and young and fresh-faced. I didn't know there was an Aveda salon and spa in West Seattle, but it is really far north of the junction, where I usually spend my time. I went again to the street fair and I saw another woman with Aveda samples, so I had to get more. She was the owner, and she made sure I had sunblock on my face -which the product was nice, not too greasy. She was spraying the kids with flower water to cool them off. I saw her and another stylist on the last day of the fair and, I really connected with her with that stylist, ...we have similar hair, her name is Megan. She gave me the best cut today I ever had. I also saw Regine an instructor from the Aveda Institute for a manicure and pedicure. She was so sweet, and also does skin care, and massage at Shanti, I asked her why she also didn't cut hair! But, then I told her to see Megan, because Megan made me feel so up to date with my hair, I was a ponytail girl before, but now, I have a new look, I can't stop looking at myself in the mirror. The girls at Shanti, are so nice, and like the another reviewer said, they still gave me individual attention, even though they had so many people in there. I like Aveda, I didn't know they had so much to offer, but I got some of that sunblock, and Regine sold me some acne cleanser. I hope it works. Anyways, what a nice discovery in our own backyard ...nice people, nice owner, and I liked how they were out in the community giving out samples and coupons, and talking to people. Apparently they are going to expand and remodel too soon. I think they are working with Aveda downtown, that is where I have bought some rosemary mint shampoo in the past. I was impressed by this place -especially for West Seattle, it is much bigger inside than it appears, and I can't wait to see the remodel, but it already looks so nice, I hope they don't ruin it, because it is a great place with good people. I used to go to Shanti a year or two ago, and the front desk staff, a couple of bully-like older brunettes were horrible to me, and made me feel awful, and there were some snobby people there, that made me uncomfortable -I was made to feel like I was a waste of their precious time. I thought on a whim I would try Shanti again because they are Aveda, and the only salon open on a Sunday in West Seattle, that could get me in. WOW, the whole salon was beautifully decorated, lots of waiting room space (unlike what another reviewer said), and a whole new staff, that I hear most are educators for Aveda. I cannot believe the transformation of this salon and spa, and I cannot believe how friendly everyone was to me. Despite the fact that they were slammed with customers, I received individual attention, had a facial and some waxing with Genavie -the best ever, and a cut with Cat -the best cut I have had since I moved to Seattle. They told me Aveda Institute instructors work there in their spa and hair area, and I think this is why I received the best service ever. The front desk staff was so nice, I couldn't believe I was in the same place, with the decor, and the energy, and how happy and fun everyone was. I had a great time, and Genavie got me using Aveda's new Brightening (I think -blue boxes) skin care line, and my face has been glowing for a week now. I thought I was aging, but I feel 10 years younger! I am so happy that the staff is so friendly now, and I am amazed at the decor, and service I received. I even befriended the owner. From now on, Shanti is my favorite boutique salon in Seattle, with parking, Aveda, and the best service, staff and energy of the whole environment. It was a delightful experience, and I am going to make it a habit to go there every time, hopefully monthly -I want to keep my face glowing, my style and color shiny, and I have to say their prices are unbeatable for the service I received... Surely as good as it gets! I usually go to a different place every time, but Shanti salon is now the only place I will let cut my hair. Monique is a great stylist and I highly recommend her. Great experience in all aspects. For years I have had boring hair.....I was either too damn busy to get it cut or too busy to style it. I'd also had terrible experiences every time at various other salons around Seattle. One day a got the crazy idea that I would again brave the hair salon because I just couldn't stand my hair anymore. I looked up Shanti in West Seattle based on their many services offered, reasonable prices and it's excellent reputation. I saw Erica who worked at Shanti and told her, "just cut it!" Low and behold I got the best haircut of my life! I have NEVER been so happy with my hair. A week later I came back and she colored my hair and it came out beautifully. I'm so pleased! I will have no problem going back to get my next hair cut there. The ladies that work there are great. They're friendly and sweet & have a high level of professionalism and knowledge. The salon space is bright & airy. It's lovely. Peaceful & relaxing. A nice retreat from your hard-working day! I USED TO SEE LAURA FOR MY CUTS AND LISA FOR MY NAILS. LAURA WAS SUPER FRIENDLY, BUT SHE NEVER QUITE DID WHAT I WANTED HER TO DO WITH MY HAIR. I SAW HER OUT OF HABIT AND SHE ALWAYS DID THE SAME CUT. I WANTED TO TRY SOMEONE NEW, BUT WAS AFRAID TO "CHEAT" ON HER. WHEN I FOUND OUT SHE LEFT, THEY OFFERED ME A DISCOUNT, WHICH I THINK THEY ARE DOING FOR HER CLIENTS, AND SHANNAN IS THE BEST IN THEIR SALON! Well love the name -- 'Shanti' means 'peace' in Sanskirt. And that's what I found at this small, friendly but professional salon, located in the Admiral District of West Seattle. This has to be one of Seattle's best kept secrets. I just hate the hectic atmosphere of many salons these days. The decor at Shanti is beautifully done, no radios or tv's blaring, and the friendly staff make for a great atmosphere. I had just moved back to Seattle from upstate New York 2 months ago, and my hair was a mess, to say the least! My stylist Rachel did a fantastic job and made me feel and look like a million bucks! The receptionist Erin was very friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks for a wonderful experience you guys, I'll be back for sure! I have been going to Shanti for about 10 years - before they were Carlin Salon. Their remodel is beautiful, and the staff is so professional. No matter who I see, from stylists, to skin care people, to manicurists, to massage therapists, I always get the best service from top of the line professionals. And they sell and use all Aveda which is great for my hair and skin, and great for their environmental efforts. The front desk staff is so kind, and always helpful and knowledgeable. Staff have always come and gone over the last 10 years, but they are consistently my favorite salon and spa in all of Seattle. Their professionalism and service is bar none, and it is so much fun to go and get relaxed by people who genuinely care, and who do such great service! No matter who I see, I always walk out feeling relaxed, and like a new person, who just had a fun and relaxing experience. Shanti Salon & Spa is the best Salon in West Seattle! The Morrocan decor is beautiful and inviting. I always receive the best services, whether its in the Salon or in the Spa. They are an Aveda Salon, so you can get all your services without leaving your carbon footprint. Everyone who works there is very friendly and treats you as if they have known you all your life! Street parking can be a challenge, but there is a parking lot in the back. Scheduling can be difficult ( so once you find "the one"..I highly recommend pre-booking)but the Front Desk staff will work with you to get you in, they are also very friendly and funny. The stylists really take their time with the consultations to ensure you are 100% satisified. The is Spa is outstanding! Highly trained professionals, I highly recommend the hour long facial ( its incredible!!) Look for their special events nights, they are always so much fun!! I've been going to Shanti ever since I arrived in Seattle, and I will never go anywhere else! Consummate professionals who always remember you, treat you like close friends, and are the best salon staff I've ever dealt with. They are awesome. Parking can be tricky -- you can find it, but it works best if you have a small vehicle. The only so-so thing I can say is that one of their front desk staff is generally stand-offish, and at times rude. It's just the one girl, though; everyone else is great. Drop ins aren't always able to be taken care of -- always plan to call ahead. There have been a few times I've had to wait longer than a week to get appointments with specific people. I love Shanti. The services I receive are always amazing and the service providers are all wonderful people. I have however been less than pleased with the front desk. I call and am put on hold for long periods at a time and then the girls can be somewhat snappy with me as I am trying to book my service. This is not always the case, but on more than one occasion I have dealt with rude front desk behavior. I would recommend this salon and spa to all of my friends, just watch out for the front desk if they are having a bad day... the overall experience that i had @ shanti was phenominal.. from start to finish the professionallism and friendliness of staff was beyond my highest expectations.. but the highlight was by far my massage from this amazing massage therapist named Dajah, who i swore must have had magic hands... while being massaged i was transported into another world... i have never had this happen before... and i look forward to having this experience again,but im skeptical that this would give me as much inspiration as this first visit... but i honestly think deep down it may be better, so we will just have to see what happens on my next visit... thank you , for reading and do yourself a favor and set up an appointment @ shanti ..they rock more
