Saved the Day! 4/24/2011

This is the second time I've gone running to Mark with dumb camera questions. I'm camera-phobic, but have had to start using one. Both times he's treated me with respect, answered my questions thoroughly and given me additional helpful information. I found him considerate and generous and I appreciate those qualities, especially when I'm feeling inept. Thank you, Mark! more

Thank you sir. 1/4/2011

I had read these reviews before I called and I was expecting him to be rude and un-kind. HE WAS NOT! While he is direct and to the point he was very helpful and gave me advice that was perfect. I would go back in a second. more

Professional & Honest?? 8/19/2010

Matter of fact, intelligent and told me like it was. Being busy, I tried not to take up to much of Mark's time or over-explain the problem. He knew right away at least three potential solutions to my Pentax (the split-ring was not accurate). When I dropped it off, he could only talk a few minutes, but when it was repaired we talked for a while and he gave me some very good advice. I'm telling my other astro-photography friends that still do film. Reasonable price, also.? On Aug 1, 2010 more

Very rude 7/16/2010

called to ask how much it would cost...the man that answered the phone sounded like i was wasting his time and then was incredibly rude when i asked for references. would rather have the hassle of sending the camera to manufacturer. Pros: rudeness outweighs skills Cons: rudeness outweighs skills more

Excellent Service 2/26/2010

Extremely knowledgeable owner of this shop. He took the time to show me an example of what part might need to be replaced on my camera, and an estimate on what a new part might cost. But he didn't stop there -- he continued to investigate whether or not there was something else causing the problem. Sure enough, I had changed a setting in the camera (and basically did not know what I was doing!) Thanks to him, my camera now works like it should and he did not charge me for his time. I will definitely recommend him to others. Pros: Veteran Technician, honest person more

Very happy with the service 11/28/2009

Last April our Nikon D50 was dropped lens down on the floor - we thought for sure we'd have to replace at least the lens if not the camera body - I took the cameras to Shanklin's shop on my lunch hour and he checked it out - shot a few practice shots and fixed the jammed lens and it's worked great since - and he didn't charge me a dime. Now we're taking grandkids pictures again and are very pleased! Will recommend him often Pros: Quick and very helpful more

Rude! 1/23/2009

I just got back from Shanklin Camera Repair and I was appalled by how rude this man was. He made me cry! I brought him a digital camera with a broken LCD screen, and he sat there and belittled me while turning the camera on and off repeatedly. He said he could fix it; however, his negative attitude made me think it was better to take my business somewhere else. Mean and rude! more
