The place to get great hair 10/17/2007

Shaul took me from a very cute, but average hair cut, to a crowd-stopper, way hip, way cool, awesome haircut.\r People stop me everyday and ask me where I get my hair cut. And the color is just as awesome.\r My hair has never looked better. And, not only does it look good, but it stays looking good for two weeks.\r That's what a good job Shaul does styling it. I met Shaul through a friend of mine as a business contact. I worked with one of France's best photographers to design and paint the mural paintings inside the salon. Shaul and his brother are the coolest people I've workedd for and I'm proud to have a masterpiece in their salon. Not only is Shaul a great hairdresser and so artistic, but he is also so nice to look at while he's doing my highlights, or cutting my hair.... I'm always very happy when I leave. What a gorgeous salon...The moment i walked in i was greeted by such a friendly receptionist. The decor is incredible, the energy is amazing, and the stylist are just too damn beautiful. A friend of mine referred me over to Shampoo and recommended a stylist named Shaul. I really had no idea what I was in for. Without having an appointment and without waiting more than 10 minutes, Shaul came out to summon me. Talk about gorgeous. I just about melted. I had my color done, a blowdry and style, and was so happy with my results that I have recommended him to all my friends. I will be returning back to shampoo salon in about a month and have decided that from this point forward, Shampoo and Shaul are the only ones for me :). ONE DAY I WAS IN SUCH A RUSH TO GET READY FOR A PARTY I WAS ATTENDING THE SAME DAY AND I DIDN'T HAVE MY HAIR DONE YET! AFTER BUYING MY DRESS AT THE GROVE I DROVE DOWN 3RD STREET AND SAW A HAIRSALON CALLED ""SHAMPOO"" I WALKED IN AND I WAS GREETED SO NICELY. I TOLD THE RECEPTIONIST MY SITUATION AND SHE IMMEDIATLY CALLED SHAUL TO HELP ME OUT. HE WAS SOOOO NICE AND CUTE =] !! HE ASKED ME WHAT I'D LIKE AND I TOLD HIM I WANT MY HAIR UP FOR THE NIGHT. IN A MATTER OF 30 MINUTES MY HAIR LOOKED SOO BEAUTIFUL! I WAS SO HAPPY WITH HIS WORK. HE MADE ME FEEL SO COMFORTABLE. WE WERE CONVERSATING AND TALKING AS IF WE WERE BEST FRIENDS! I DEFINATLY RECOMMEND HIM. I GOT SO MUCH COMPLIMENTS ON MY HAIR AT THE PARTY. EVER SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN GOING TO SHAUL ON A REGULAR BASIS AND MANY OF MY FRIENDS NOW GO TO HIM AND NEVER HAVE I HEARD ONE COMPLAINT. josh is the best 9/17/2007

i've been on the hunt for a new hair stylist. my current one was ""okay,"" but she was ridiculously boring. sitting in her chair was rushed and uncomfortable. i read about josh and decided to give it a go. one word: fantastic. not only does he take his time and listen to what your end goal is(harder to find that you'd think), he's the friendliest stylist. like, ever. Robear's down the street :) 9/7/2007

I'm really glad that my stylist Robear has moved from Shampoo to his new location down the street, The Parlor on 3rd. The new salon is way posh and comfortable and they actually treated me like a human (even better there's water, espresso, wine and beer served while you wait!!)...go figure. I just didn't feel too welcome at Shampoo...the receptionist was really sweet but the some of the other stylists were very cold and pretty unfriendly. My hair is much happier now and so am I! Three Cheers for Josh 5/3/2007

I am a long-time devotee of Josh's. I think he cuts hair that is both modern and really easy to wear. I don't like to fuss with my hair, so it's a little product and go. And with Josh's cuts, it's easy to look cool, but not done. So if anyone is looking for someone to cut their hair--man or woman--go see Josh. He's amazing. more

This is actually the first comment I've ever made on an establishment. I was recommended by a friend to see Josh at Shampoo for a haircut. Now, I've always been VERY particular about who cuts my hair. I have been to a couple other hairstylists in LA and haven't been completely satisfied as my standards are pretty high...and why shouldn't they be, right? So, of course I checked Citysearch for some additional info on Shampoo and Josh...and as you can see, people tend to RAVE about Josh. So I made the appt.\r \r The salon is really cute and cozy with a fun atmosphere. I waited maybe 10-15 minutes, which I didn't think was a big deal at all. The receptionist was soo nice and welcoming. Josh was adorable and so sweet. A great conversationalist, very funny and down-to-earth...none of that forced convo you tend to get from stylists that are just trying to fill the silence. He sat me down in his chair and checked out my hair first and we talked about what I was looking to do. He really got me excited on his plans for the cut...it sounded exactly like what I was hoping for...and the cut ended up being just that...I LOVED IT! He really took his time, making sure everything was just how he wanted it...all the while making sure I liked it too! He did a really cute and stylish blow-out and even spent a little time dry-cutting my hair for a final touch. All in all, after the great experience, I left the salon very happy!\r \r I highly recommend this salon...and definitely try to get in with Josh! I have had several great cuts/styles from Josh, a dark haired youth originally hailing from Portland, OR. Josh always had fresh breath and cut my hair and make it look super cool. I also like the receptionists at the front, they were nice to me once I mentioned I was there to see Josh. When I get my hair cut, Josh is great at small talk, as we have both found a mutual love for the pop culture icon, Avril Levine. I'll be back to Shampoo on 3rd very soon for my holiday cut!! more

A friend of mine recommended Josh to me about a year ago and I haven't gone to anyone else since. While I'm sure he also takes direction well, I've never had to give him any other than ""work your magic""...and I've never left the shop anything shy of pleased with how I look. Idon't usually take the time to write reviews like this, but I am so touched by my experience at Shampoo Salon I want others to know about it. I was referred to Josh by a friend who had a great cut and color. I'd been skipping around several different stylists at the time and was never really happy. First of all he was so warm and sweet and took me to his chair and asked me about my hair for at least 15 minutes. He really listened and wanted to know as much as i could tell him about what i liked and didn't like and then he explained what he liked and what he thought would work. Anyway I had a great time talking with him and feel like he is actually a good friend which can be rare in LA....my color had the most amazing carmel tones and light blonde pieces that blended so well and natural but also brought out the best cut i have had to date...he cut the hair wet and dry and went thru it several times to make sure it was ""perfect""...he's stuck with me for life hahaaa and i recommend anyone going to see him...obviously he is rare and great...thanks josh!!!! oxoxox sarah Pros: stylist creative professional reasonably priced Cons: parking on saturdays can be hard.... more
