The Shade Hotel is an experience that everyone should try and more than once! It is located very close to the beach promenade and near many terrific restaurants. The rooms at The...

I can't believe there are positive reviews for this place. Do ya think one of the owners or managers wrote the other spectacular reviews? Maybe? Duh! Shade is the ultimate cou...

After work drinks 5/9/2006

It is an older crowd (mostly older men). Drinks are expensive, but it is a nice atmosphere! Martini glasses are small, beer glasses are a pretty good size. After 8:00 the crowd loosens up and gets a tad bit younger. Great place for Manhattan Beach, but not your typical beach crowd. Pros: Atmosphere, parking Cons: $$$drinks more

A Great Stay 4/4/2006

What a find. I was in town on business and happened upon this jewl. Great staff, comfortable and well designed rooms and public areas. The top deck was not completed yet but was able to walk around--Could see Catalina Island. Night life at the bar starts around 6-6:30 and crowds in fast. Can't wait to come back. Pros: Design, Staff, Location more

Sexy Lounge, sexy crowd 3/18/2006

I have visited this hotel bar many times since it opened 4 months ago and although things are still changing daily, I love it every time. The place obviously ""caters"" to the classy/upscale crowd, but refreshingly enough, there is something very down-to-earth about it; maybe because the severs/staff are so fun and friendly. During the week is chill, and the weekends are crazy busy. Go early if you wanna get a comfy couch for the night, plus, they close at 10/11pm!!! Definantly a cool, fun, unique place.....lots of hot professional gals/guys. Pros: servers, sexy crowd, drinks Cons: over-priced food, crowded on weekends, no dance floor more

Suites (and all rooms) are Over the Top! 3/10/2006

I stayed in the Bridal Suite and never wanted (or needed) to leave my room! The beds are Tempur-Pedic (I now have one) and the sheets are heavenly. This room has an extra large spa tub and a separate shower with a steam room and a rain shower (if you run them at the same time it is great!). Also, (and apparently all the rooms have this) the mini bar is fully stocked and loaded and comes with a blender, espresso machine, and martini shaker (cool) with glasses to match all the equipment. We were also able to see the Penthouse (you can purchase and link both rooms) and there is actually a bar with beer tap in it! One more neat function is all of the rooms have ""chromatherapy"" and change different colors to suit your mood. the staff was great and we absolutely loved everything about it! Pros: Remarkable Rooms, Super Friendly Staff, Grwat Beach Location more

Home away from Home... 3/10/2006

I stopped into the bar one night and ended up booking a room; it was amazing. The hotel was great, especially the mattress. My boyfriend has been insisting ever since that we buy one. Everything at the hotel is very well designed and the staff makes you feel very welcome. The best part of all, the best bar in town is the hotel. Pros: Convenient, Stylish, Great Bar Cons: Small bar menu, No view more
