Seung-Ni Martial Arts

My wife and I have trained at at a very popular gym in town and we have also participated in different Boot Camps with very little success. A few of our friends have been raving about Seung-ni and they all appear to be in the best shape of their lives. We signed up for the Body Challenge and my wife lost 18 pounds and I lost 33 in only 8 Weeks! The presentation, staff, knowledge and facility is top notch. I signed up my 13 year old daughter in Jiu-Jitsu. We signed the year contract right away. We live about 40 miles away and Gary let us know at any time we wanted to cancel because of the distance we could. Well school's getting started and we need to get out and he was very understanding. Our experience was very good, and I regret having to leave. I also liked that a kick-box class was available at the same time for me to do. I hate to have to stop, but the drive is just a bit much. more

I've been participating in Taekwondo & Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Seung-ni for over 7 years. I have never once regreted my decision. I first started training at another local martial arts school which was your ordinary, run-of-the-mill place. When I came to Seung-ni I was amazed at the clean and professional atmosphere as well as the friendliness of the staff. I remember on my first day I was personally taken aside by an instructor and introduced to the class and shown how things work. Ever since my first day the quality of the program has done nothing but improved. I would highly reccommend this facility to anyone looking for a top-of-the-line martial arts and fitness center. more

I have trained at a number of gyms throughout the saginaw area and I never found the results I was looking for. When I found Seung-Ni I read these reviews but from word of mouth I found this was the place to be. Since coming here I have ripped up and it has been easy to maintain with the motivation of the great instructors. The staff was very polite and answered any questions I had concerning nutrition or exercising. Since coming here I have had no reason to join anywhere else since my results keep coming. Gary is very easy to work with and looks to make sure his members are well taken care of. more

Don't sign a contract, avoid this guy because his only interest is packing as many bodies into his class as possible! Salesman, not a rolemodel! Your kids will learn more about self defense in an east side saginaw day care! Pros: Very sales oriented atmosphere Cons: Instructors quitting and poor intruction more

The owner was very deceptive when explaining the 3 year contract. He said ""after the first year, you can opt out. If your daughter gets sick or something comes up; I wouldn't hold you to it (the contract)."" My daughter was 12 when I signed her up and after 15 months of attendance, she did have health problems and I had a change in my employment that made attending seung ni very difficult financially and logistically. And to top it all off, the quality at Seung Ni began to suffer. One of my daughters favorite teachers left the school and I noticed less and less of a careing attitude toward her. The owner very conveniently forgot about his verbal explanation of the contract. His partner (in Traverse City) is a lawyer and they are both quite proud of the fact that their contracts are ""airtight"". Take my advice - DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS GUY. more
