I would not recommend Service Master of Washington County to anyone. To start off, our basement flooded and we called them because they are supposed to be a 24 hour emergency company. Well they didn't get back to us until the next day. Then when they came over to dry things up, and to start on removal of the flooring and some of the drywall, I had to sign a contract. The guy said that the contract is so they can get started on the work. So I signed it. A few weeks later after the insurance claim came through and we got our check, we had them write up an estimate to finish the basement. There were some very high prices for certain items on there. One that stands out in my mind right now is removal of a small gas fire place. This unit is not in the wall, but simply has a round duct work to the wall and a gas line to the back of it. I have already disconnected it myself and it took me 10 minutes. The charge to move it was just shy of $400. There prices to carpet the rooms were very expensive compared to 2 other quotes that I received. Once I decided that this was not the most cost effective way to go about this, I called them back and asked for walk away pricing where we stand now. The guy in charge of this job became the biggest jerk. He was trying to tell me that we signed a contract stating that they were going to be responsible for the completion of this project. I am not dumb enough to sign something like that without knowing the pricing first. Finally, about a week later, I got my walk away pricing that I asked for. He said he had to and some cost for all his extra work (bringing carpet samples to the house, and making an extra trip out here to get some more dimension for another room to carpet). Well that cost came to $620. Not to mention that he tried to slip some extra costs in such as $110 for removal and disposal of the old carpet, which is still in our basement, and $220 cost for a plumber to remove our water softener, which wont need to be done anymore since they are not completing the project. Talk about a lot of headaches.
Moral of this, DON'T CALL SERVICE MASTER!!!
