GREAT Homestyle Cuban Food 7/1/2009

Contrary to other complaints made, this is by far THE BEST Cuban restaurant you can go to in Miami. I emphasize the word restaurant, not cafeteria like Latin America. You can go as casual as you want and feel at home; pets and smoking are permitted in their outdoor seating area.\r \r I admit to the menu being cheesy for having the Spanish-to-English pronunciations, but let's face the reality of it...we're in Miami and we get a lot of tourists, many of which don't speak Spanish or have a clue how to pronounce some of the words. So this works to their advantage.\r \r The food is fantastic and you get good value for your dollar. The waitresses are almost always good looking women, yet can be unattentive or a little too formal at times (unless you're a cop, then they're all over you! lol). Overall, I say to ignore all of the other negative reviews left on this page by other people and listen to this one. This is my favorite joint for Cuban food (so much so that I come here rather than eating the Cuban food made at home!). I love it, and am sure you will, too, if you go in there unbiased and just give it a try.\r \r NOTE: They are no longer 24-hours! Currently they close at 12am Sunday-Thursday, and close at 3am Fridays and Saturdays...just a heads up. Pros: Good-sized portions, cheaper than other restaurants Cons: The waitresses tend to be unattentive at times more

Good Food, not 24 hours? 12/4/2008

Not sure if it was because it was the day before Thanksgiving, but I went there Wed night at 2 AM and it was closed. Food at Sergios is good though. I do recommend it. more

Big portions, Open 24 hrs, Good eat 8/27/2008

I went to Sergios for the first time and it was relatively good. I had the fish which was sadly smaller than I expected but the rice and beans were tasty and fresh. In addition to our meals we had the black bean hummus which came out to be really good and interesting. Served with fresh cut plantain fries, it was a real twist on a greek favorite. The yuca was not good at all though, tasted like an unseasoned potatoe in hot water. Other than that their fresh squeezed oj is worth trying as well as their authentic tres leches. more

Cuban food - plain & simple 6/29/2008

Not the very best in town & there is definitely nothing gourmet about this restaurant but if you are looking for regular Cuban fare with no frills, this is it. Very generous, tasty portions of the basics in Cuban cuisine. Pros: Generous portions, tasty, no-frills Cuban food more

ordinary 1/6/2008

I guess this restaurant would be good for..... i dont know maybe someone who is hungry late at night and nothing else is open? It is ordinary cuban food. Not the best cuban food. Service was ok. Not a friendly charismatic waitress but not and unenthusiastic one either. more

best eggs and bacon, ham, etc... 1/5/2008

We go every Saturday, have a great breakfast consisting of two eggs over easy, bacon for my girlfriend and ham for me ( real ham ) and toast. Two freshly squeezed OJ's and two cafe con leche ( Lattes) each. We split an empanada ( argentinian patty) when we arrive. $17.40!!!!!!!! And great!!!!!! more

Worse Waitress ""ISABEL"" fat brunette from Argentina - Avoid this Imbecile at all cost! 7/16/2007

Sergio's food and menu is very boring and ordinary. The vaca Frita ( burned flat shredded Beef ) was horrible, Tasted like old burned non seasoned meat , not like the original Cuban taste you could find at other latino restaurants. The rice tasted like it was cook 3 days ago. The plantain was over done, and my black bean soup never arrived. The fat dumb (brunette) Argentinian waitress named "" ISABEL"" took the order like she was doing you a favor for sitting at her uncomfortable table. I wonder where the managers found this jewel of Argentinian Intelligence? M.I.T? University of Miami? Far from that, ISABEL is probably one of the worse imbecile servers in our planet. Imbecile ISABEL took the order and vanished, only to returned with the check charging us for items not received. What ever happen to good service? Somebody else brought our food, ISABEL forgot our waters, coffee , bread , ketchup for fries, salt ,dessert, etc . Never once checked our table, only to drop the check so we could get out of her fat way. In this crappy restaurant no manager comes to the table if you are upset. Remember this is Miami and not the USA, so the rules you are so cozy familiar with, don't apply in these concrete foreign overpopulated land of bad Spanish.\r \r PS: Don't let yourself become part of ""ISABEL"" bad service world.\r Don't use Sergio's bathroom unless you don't have other choice. \r Remember the rule bathroom dirty! usually kitchen dirty !\r Stay away from this place, don't be a fool like me :(\r \r \r \r \r Johny - Summer 2007\r \r \r Cons: many, read the review. more

NOT BADDD 2/12/2005

Not the best tasting cuban food but for the $$$ its worth it and some are even open 24hrs. Very Helpful after a lonnnggg night. Pan Con Bistec is pretty good. Pros: Open 24 Hrs Cons: Food needs more spice more

Stupid Menu=Lousy Food 1/2/2005

Whoever made this menu must have thought they were funny, but they weren't. Whoever cooked the food may have thought it was good, but it wasn't. Bland, boring food served by careless, disappearing waiters...just a waste of time and money! Cons: , boring food, cutesy menu more

keep driving! 11/23/2004

Do NOT stop here- keep driving till you reach Latin America Cafeteria-if you want good food. Sergio's is supposed to be Cuban- it's everything but Cuban-so keep driving-you'll be happy you did-Latin America is 100% better! Cons: , slow waiters, dirty tables more

Cuban Food??? 10/19/2004

If this is Cuban food, then I must be in another world. The food is totally without ""salsa"". Everything tastes the same and our waiter seemed to have other things on his mind. With all of the Great Cuban food joints around I don't know how this place survives. Pros: good parking Cons: , poor service more

boring!!!! 8/31/2004

If you're looking for boring food, served by bored waiters, then this is the place! As bad as the food was, at least the waiter could have made it bearable. Forget about tis place & keep driving for just a few more minutes till you reach Latin American Cafeteria, where the food is great & the service is even better! Cons: , disinterested waiters more

Best Cuban food for the Buck! 9/5/2002

I have been going to Sergio's for years, actually i have come to prefer it over other cuban restaurants. It's open late, the service is quick and curteous, and best of all you need no reservations. They serve breakfast, sandwiches, and dinners at all times of the day. And let me tell you, their prices can't be beat. $6.99 for grilled chicken w/ rice, black beans, and plantains, and complimentary cuban bread dripping w/ butter... talk about getting your money's worth. Pros: inexpensive, fast service Cons: little parking, crowded/weekends more
