No Serenity, little or no tea and really terrible service. 5/10/2011

We went for Mothers day and were hoping that it would be a great treat for her. The service was very slow...we are still waiting for the 2 iced teas and as far as a tea house goes it did not have a selection of teas, only one blend we were told.. English Breakfast Tea. Everyone’s china was chipped and my glass of water still had the last persons lipstick on it. The sandwiches were generally fine but considering there were 4 of us at the table you would have expected to get at least 4 of everything. That was not the case. Apparently they had run out of certain ingredients during the first sitting. Tea which should have been freely flowing was a scarce commodity with us having to wait a long time between pots. The first pot only had enough tea for 3 cups so the 4th person had to wait ~ 20 minutes before they brought another pot of tea. What was really the kicker... there was a 20% gratuity included in the bill. Had the price per person be less and the service good I would not have an issue with the gratuity. I should also point out that our table was not as vocal with the displeasure we felt as compared to another table whose comment was "we must be invisible since we've been here for 30 minutes and still have no soup. Bottom line... steer clear more

Granny-Style Tea House 8/21/2006

I found out about this place through my male boss, of all people. He was Dutch, and he just loved to come here and dine to get away from the office. This place is decorated like someone's grandma's house, with doilies and flowered tablecloths and antiques decorating the walls (which are for sale). The selection of teas takes up a whole page, which you can order you own teapot of, sitting in it's own cozy on the table. The quiche is good, as well as the homemade soups (my favorite was the tomato bisque). Don't expect to get in and out in an hour, though. The service is relaxed here, like most of the patrons. The desserts, as other reviewers mentioned, are must-haves. Save room for the light slice of orange cake or the molten chocolate concoction with real whipped cream. more

cute place 9/22/2005

We went here and took my daughter and my neice and nephew. Not really a man place-- husband hated it (nothing for him to eat). Nephew didn't care too much for it, but the girls liked dressing up in fancy hats and boas. There is a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. The desserts are fabulous! Even Hubby couldn't resist the lemon pound cake. more

time for tea 8/19/2005

This is such a cute little place. They serve up tea and "tea foods" like salads and sandwiches. They offer and variety of breads and wraps for the sandwiches. Their desserts are all really good too. The fun thing about this place is that you can take a group of girls there and they have a dressup chest. They have boas and hats and beads that you can put on to "dress up" your party a bit. Very fun... don't forget your camera! more
