Love the food, hate the service.
I was just there last night and left my purse. Admittedly irresponsible, but we left the place right at closing so we thought I had a decent chance of finding it. I drove back down there about 30 minutes after I left, but the place was locked up. Called this morning, was told by a female employee that the owner was the one who cleaned at the end of the night so he may have found it, but he wasn't going to be in until later. She called me back about 45 minutes after that saying he had said that he was there, but he didn't find it.
Now I managed a restaurant for several years and if I had been in that situation, I would have made that phone call myself. I wouldn't have asked the same employee to call the person back to tell them the purse wasn't found.
What am I supposed to think? A) she never talked to him and is covering that someone at the restaurant decided to keep my purse and/or B) he's either stupid or just doesn't care about his customers enough to make the call personally and doesn't care about word of mouth.
We've been there a lot as a family and enjoyed the food, but we will not be back.
Update: I called and talked to the owner tonight. I never specifically accused anyone of stealing my purse. I just wanted him to know this had happened in case he was unaware. He told me that his employee had told him that there was a lady who lost her purse and that the police were coming in. Strange, because I didn't tell her I was calling the cops until AFTER she had called me back to say she had talked to the owner and he hadn't found my purse.
The owner was very confused. I don't think that he understood the point of my call: simply to confirm that he truly asked her to call me, because I thought he should know if he actually didn't know about it. That was it. The conversation ended with him asking me to do him a favor and call him to apologize when I find my purse. Nice.
