Great Service and a Friendly Atmosphere 11/6/2008

I have stop in here several times after work with friends. The wait staff have been great, even with a full house the service is top notch. I have not had a full meal here but have found ordering an appetizer can be filling. They are quite tasty and not at all over priced. The owner is on site and finds time to greet everyone. Over all an enjoyable experience.\r more

expensive, but not as good as the cheaper places, slow service 8/4/2008

The food was not that great at all, especially when it was WAYYYYY more expensive than El maguey, Mi Lupita or Zapata's. You also have to get your own chips and salsa, which just was a hassle (esp. when busy) and they weren't so good. The service was slow too. I definitely prefer the ""cheaper"" Mexican places! Pros: Atmopshere is pretty good, saw they have a soccer field set up in the parking lot Cons: too expensive, mediocre food, slow service more

Depression era mexican food? 6/14/2008

Tried this restaurant for the 1st time the other day. My boyfriend and I went after the weekday lunch rush, when it was slow. Even though there were only a handful of diners, our entrees still took about 25 minutes. My boyfriend ordered 2 enchiladas and a bean and cheese burrito. The burrito was almost the size of a pencil, and the tortilla was very tough, as if someone had overcooked it in a microwave. He then noticed he had peas in his enchilada--sure enough, when he opened it up, it looked like a beef stew, carrots, potatoes, peas. The sauce tasted like ketchup. I ordered a chorizo torta, that being one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I noticed that I had something else in the sandwhich that I had never seen on a chorizo torta. . . upon closer inspection, I realized that this mystery meat was HOT DOGS! Someone had SLICED A HOT DOG AND PUT IT IN MY SANDWICH! I've never seen anything like this in my life.\r I called a good friend who has spent a lot of time in Mexico, thinking maybe this is a strange Mexican cuisine that I had never tried. She confirmed that not only had she never seen peas in an Enchilada, but she was pretty sure you couldn't even find Hot Dogs in Mexico. \r I guess I understand--with the lenghthy wait and poor yet overpriced food, they must need to cut costs because they're losing business to El Maguey, just a few blocks east.\r Moral of the story--just go to El Maguey. If you want to make a Hot Dog sandwich, it's cheaper to make it at home! more
