I had my first visit to Sego Nursery over the weekend even though it had been recommended to me by friends several times. It is just outside of my neighborhood but it was well worth the extra 10 minute drive. They had a marvelous selection of plants and plant-related products. Everyone there was helpful and friendly. I had many questions and each and every one was answered and one very nice gentleman spent a lot of time with me helping me with my purchasing decisions. I think I would've wasted money on items I didn't need if he hadn't helped me. Sego will now be my regular nursery and I'm sorry I didn't take my friends advice and go there sooner. more

I've shopped here for many years, and they are always so friendly and helpful! This family-owned nursery is one of the very last remaining in Los Angeles, as so many of the BIG BOX stores have forced smaller businesses out. It's like visiting family each time you stop in for something...they are always willing to help you in whatever your latest gardening challenge may be. It's fun to just cruise the aisles and see the unusual and exotic plants they have, as well as find all the staples you'll need. I can't say enough great things about SEGO, and its wonderful owners! I was very disappointed when I returned once again to purchase at this nursery and the plants I wanted,(but hard to find) were pretty much all dead, and I needed to work hard to help keep them alive. Needlesstosay, I was purchasing about 15 different plants and asked if the other two I was taking could be reduced since they were in pretty bad shape and there were no others. One guy said he would check to see if they had more, then returned to tell me those were the best two of the four and they had no more (which I already told him that) and said he wouldn't reduce the price. I wanted these plants that I was willing to pay the price until the the other family members yelled so don't take them if you don't want to pay full price (I was at the register with wallet out to pay). I have made several hundred dollar purchases at this place in the past and could not believe the arrogance and decided to leave ALL of the plants behind. It was the principle, not the money. Sad to say that I WILL NEVER RETURN THERE, and would not recommend it either. I am sure other places would appreciate good money and give their customers some respect!
