I was admitted to the Swedish emergency room with a severe allergy attack. The immediate care in the emergency room was excellent! They took a copy of my insurance card for both them and the attending doctor. The Swedish hospital submitted their bill in a timely manner to the correct address, whereas the Seattle emergency Physicians office submitted their bill to an incorrect address. Having worked in a billing office I believe they chose the incorrect code which gave them an incorrect address. They continued to bill me... After many calls from Turkey, finally I was able to convince a person to look at the address! It was discovered that indeed they were sending the claim to the incorrect address. The bill was paid promptly by the insurance company after receiving the bill. There was some confusion as to whether they were part of a network... It took me more than 5months to get this resolved for $19.90 because the office/billing dept at Seattle Emergency Physicians believes that they are above making errors. I was talked 'down' to, dismissed, generally treated unkindly. They are a group of employees that are snobbish, self centered and filled with misplaced pride! Having worked in a billing/collections office I know that you get farther with the public if you offer them courtesy and respect as opposed to the 'know it all' attitude offered at Seattle Emergency Physicians. I can't say that writing this makes me feel better but if it helps someone else it is worth the time and effort.
Cons: the billing department was impossible to work with!
