I can't believe I am logging in again to point this out, but I am concerned about people who may rely on these inflated reviews. Please note that if you look at these 5-star reviewers, they were all from the same person prior to my pointing it out (years ago). Once I made that comment, new accounts appeared to make 5-star reviews (all within a few weeks of each other), but if you look at the only ones who have reviewed sites other than this one (i.e. Doug C. and Anthony S.), it appears that they have coincidentally reviewed all of the same OTHER sites too. The so-called "physician" review which has been posted around the web does not even attempt to disguise Agnes's writing style or self-promotional tactics. I have heard all of those claims directly from her own mouth. (And even if you assume I am mistaken about her writing it, does a person needing to be in therapy for "10 years" in a group with "minimal turnover" - thus reflecting very few people feeling equipped to manage their lives WITHOUT therapy - speak to a healthy, successful therapy experience? Agnes bragged about having "patients" for 30 years or longer. That strikes me as a major red flag in and of itself.) Bottom line: Any therapist who would spend time falsifying reviews about herself is not one you want delving into your psyche. Dismiss my review too, if you wish, as my experience with these therapists was nothing short of destructive, but please be very cautious in relying on the others without doing your own investigation. I hope that my giving voice to these therapist tactics saves at least one person from experiencing harm at their hands. more

Highly Recommend!! 12/4/2011

I have been a physician in Seattle for 20 years. I and a number of my colleagues have known John McDonald and Agnes Forras for most of that time. I have referred them hundreds of patients, have seen Agnes for individual counseling, and was a member in one of their groups for 10 years. They have opened up their home to thousands of patients through the years, have had a full practice for decades, and are always willing to take new patients. I can speak to their impeccable reputation on several different levels. I am very careful about choosing to whom I refer my patients. Hands down they are head and shoulders above any other therapists I referred patients to. Over the years I have received consistently positive feedback from my patients about John and Agnes with only a rare individual who said there was a lack of connection. Their schedule is flexible with day and evening hours including weekend availability for their existing clients, should the need arise. They are dedicated to serving everyone regardless of financial need. This is evidenced by their sliding scale fee. I had individual therapy with Agnes initially. Most therapists have a paradigm in which they practice (cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, psychoanalysis, etc.) which can be somewhat limiting. Agnes is very familiar with most paradigms (different methods of treating patients) and integrates her knowledge and experience so she is able to custom tailor her therapy to that individual's unique needs. Her attitude is one of humble service to her patient/client. Neither I nor any of my patients have experienced anything other than this with her. I also had the opportunity to participate in one of their groups for 10 years. It was one of the most rewarding, challenging, and growing times for me. John and Agnes were consistently understanding, empathic, caring, insightful, astute, and respectful in their assessments and recommendations to us. There was minimal turnover in the group I was in for 10 years. That should speak for itself. more

Proceed with caution 8/2/2011

I don't usually write reviews, but I find it suspicious that the 13 alleged reviews on here (all five stars) are written by the same person with different text. My therapy with Agnes Forras and John McDonald was terrible. I would never recommend them to others on the basis of my experience, which spanned several years. My group was a disaster due largely to their lack of professionalism and consideration for others. Several of us were harmed by the experience of being targeted by Agnes and used to meet her needs. Speaking for myself alone, I had to undergo years of therapy with another counselor just to work through the damage inflicted by this couple. Please - do your homework before selecting a therapist. I wish I had. more
