Just Got Screwed by Sears Auto Center at Rivertown Mall in Grandville MI:
They do not stand behind their product at all. I had brought my 2012 Suburu in to have a complete brake job done about 5 months ago for a cost of $800.00. A couple of days ago, one of my calipers locked up. After limping it to a mechanic who I have used frequently and trust (NOTE: I could not originally bring the car to him to have the brakes done because at that time the car was managed by ARI fleet and he was not on their list of "preferred" vendors) I received a phone call telling me the reason why my caliper had rusted up was because whoever had installed my brakes had neglected to lubricate the pads or shave them down a little bit to allow them to move freely in the caliper. This had resulted in not allowing the pad to move away from the caliper because it had slowly and had subsequently ruined the pads and the calipers on BOTH sides. After going to Sears to ask them what they were going to do about it I was told that because I had bought the car out from under ARI (I had changed jobs and purchased my vehicle on the way out) that they had no responsibility to do anything for me. And that is all they would keep repeating, over and over again when I asked them if they were going to stand behind their work. I asked if all of their brake jobs would last only six months and they just kept repeating the same line. If they were willing to lose a customer who had been shopping at Sears his whole life and has spent thousands of dollars on Craftsman tools and Sears brand appliances on $260.00, then think of what they would be willing to do with a higher amount of money. They will not stand behind their product, will find any corporate loophole to get out of paying for it, and will just sit their like parrots repeating the same legalize
